I'm looking for a pair of gaiters to keep me dry this year. I don't really have $120 to drop on name brand camouflage gear so I'm wondering if anyone has other reccomendations.

I've been looking for a calf height pair, with as silent of material as possible. I've been looking at the Outdoor Research gaiters they are about $40-$50 and get great reviews. But being made of Cordura they won't be very quiet. They are also black si I'm guessing they would be hot. Any other ideas?

Kenetreks are the quietest that I have any experience with. The have a softer outer fabric then OR.

There are quite a few threads about this. If you want some on the cheap, you can pick up the Core4element gaiters from Camofire for around $25. I prefer those over the OR. Mainly the noise. Or watch the forum classifieds and try to pick up some Kuiu gaiters for around $50. They are awesome.

Thanks guys, I've been trying to search for threads but summer work has taken me away from my computer and wifi, and I am trying to get a pair before Sept bow season.

Are there any Kuiu ones to avoid or are they all a lot quieter than the outdoor research ones?

The Kuiu are $79 and look like they'll work well for me. But I've not been able to use them yet. Haven't found anything wet enought to use them on.

They have their original Yukon gaiters which are waterproof, breathable, knee high. They are pretty quiet. Way more quiet than OR. The new scree gaiters are the short ones, only water resistant. Made for keeping debris out. I don't think they are even shipping those yet. The Yukons are the best gaiters I've seen/used.

Take a look at the Firstlite gaiters.
How well do those ones work? The only ones I saw on their website went over your boot but under your pants. Still afraid my pants will get wet, unless they can also be worn over the pant?

They have a new one, Brambler. They're $100. They're brand new, so don't know how many people have used them yet.

These ones go over your boot and pant leg like all other gaiters. Brambler Gaiter

I have only had them for a very short time but I have had Kuiu, Sitka, Kenetrek, three different Outdoor Research, and Cabelas.
The Kuiu gaiters are nice but I refuse to support them for personal reasons. I sold them a couple years ago and went with the OR Crocs and have been very happy with no plans to switch. That was until I got a chance to see the Firstlite gaiters at Shot Show this year. As soon as I got to check them out I knew I would be switching.

Thanks not on a major budget but I don't want to spend $100+ on something when a $60 one will perform just as well. I'm not a major back country hunter just someone who wants to stay dry

My Kuiu gaiters just came in today. Still at work so I can't try them on. Maybe I am over thinking it but how do you guys put them on?

Do you hook the shoe lace hook then do up the velcro or do you just do up the velcro and let the shoe lace hook snag the first lace it finds whike walking?
