I’m looking for a WY, ID maybe CO resident or possibly a well informed NR to do a hunt swap. I have 5 WY points for deer, elk and antelope, zero in CO, a few in other states as well. Don’t really care which state as long as I can get a tag somewhat regularly and chase good bulls.

I would like to find someone that is a successful hunter that wants to venture out to other states. I’m in OR and it takes 1-2 points to draw an elk tag here for a NR but I’m happy take someone in exchange for someone taking me. A traditional only elk tag can be draw every year.

I’m very successful on elk here in OR and have killed a decent bull 7 of the last 8 years here in OR. However I want to kill more than 1 a year, I’m not interested in chasing small bulls around and won’t shoot anything unless it’s around 300”, preferably bigger. I can put whomever wants to hunt swap on similar sized bulls. Would prefer to hunt an area I can hunt every couple of years.

I know there are plenty of others out there successful year after year and want to venture out as well. I take all of Sept off each year so timing doesn’t really matter. Not necessarily looking for 2026, I’m hoping to pick up an ID tag next year. I’m just wanting to come up with a good plan for another state and hunting with a resident opens up a lot of areas as well in WY and helps with logistics.

Here are a some of my bulls from the last few years.

I don’t think Wyoming will work for you since it takes quite a few years to accumulate the points you need to draw a tag. Otherwise I might be interested. Good luck.

I currently have 5 points that are going to need to be used at some point.
I think what Indian Summer is saying is that Wyoming isn’t really a place to plan on going every other year. A general tag is taking 5 points currently. So you could go once every 5 years, that won’t work.

NR draw odds are not good enough anywhere to the point you could go to the same area every two years. Maybe Montana.

Buy Landowner voucher maybe?

I got that, would still be interest in doing it once. My boys both have 5 WY points each as well we will have to use at some point. I realize it’s getting tough to get tags there. Hopefully in a few more years once the kids graduate I’ll be a resident. I’d be happy to meet a couple guys from different states, makes it more likely to get a tag every year and gives me someone to hunt with here since a NR can only be guaranteed a tag here every 3rd year as well.

I’ve already meet a new friend from Aus. I’m going to help find an elk here in the near future and hopefully someday make it over there for some hunting with him.

I’m 43 and my youngest is graduating high school after one more year so I’ll have a bunch more time free to hunt soon. I wish I could have done it 10 years ago but life was too busy.

We historically haven't allowed swap hunt threads on Rokslide, they always end in some type of drama that the administration has to deal with. That's why you don't see a single one on the forum.
