Looking for a mid-range rangefinder. Is a Maven CRF.1 the obvious choice?

I'm looking for my first (and hopefully only for a long time) rangefinder for western elk hunting. I've read a lot of threads without a clear consensus, but is the Maven CRF.1 the current middle weight recommendation? I've seen the more expensive RF.1 recommended often but am skeptical of the size and bulk for my use case and would prefer something a bit cheaper. The CRF.1 claims to use the same technology, but also somehow has a shorter range.

Maven CRF.1 is great. It gives me reliable ranges on game animals to 700+ yards mid day and a bit further at dawn and dusk. It's a nice simple setup that works well for archery & rifle. If you need to range further get the RF.1.

I had an old rangefinder that was dicey past 400 on a consistent basis. I bought the vortex razor 4000 without the solver and was blown away. It ranges anything out to 1000 yards on the first click in any light conditions. I have ranged stuff over 2000 yards away. I don’t know how this one stacks up with the ones you are looking at, but I have found it to be more than adequate for anything I need to do.
