Looking for a AK moose hunting partner

Looking for hunting partner

I'm already dialed in for my Moose and Caribou hunt. My partner and I have dialed in two different pilots. We had our flights partially paid by Feb 2025 with our locations on the map. The Caribou leg is 7 days and the Moose leg is 10 days. The complexity of a hunt like this are real and it sounds like you have your segments dialed in. I'll spend aprox 6k in misc expenses to complete a DIY Moose and Caribou hunt. I have great partner that I've enjoyed hunting with for a very long time.
Between the interpersonal dynamics, costs, time requirements, and gear needs I can only imagine the difficulty of finding the right person to join you. Especially if it's a hunting partner also wanting a harvest. Now ya got non-resident fees to contend with, long flights and cargo costs. An AK hunting expedition is a carefully curated endeavor. Good luck finding the right homie.
How did it go? Did you incur any unforseen expenses? Where would you recommend I start my research to do something similar? Did you use guides in any way, or handle everything with planes and lodging by yourself? Thanks

I never ended up finding someone to go in time after my initial post. Did end up going to AK in August, but was primarily going to be a fishing trip. Was hoping to do some hunting on the trip too, but the weather prevented us from even getting in the field with the rise in river. Everything was going to be handled by ourselves. Looking to go back to AK again in 2026.

It went to plan. I didn’t experience any unplanned expenses. We paid for fuel, food, and transport.
Research with ADFG harvest statistics and read the drawing supplement. Make calls to transporters and be honest about your gear and experience to get a fit. I didn’t use any guides or coordinator. I moved with my sleeping gear and threw out a tepee at the tail of an airstrip twice. We didn’t score a moose but had two sublegals visit. Be ready to adapt and have some grit cuz there’s some burley and experienced folks out there chasin their big game dreams.
