What does everyone use for bullets? right now I'm using 200grain gamekings out of my 300win mag that are shooting incredible. But I'm Thinking about trying 210grain Berger bullets since there seems to be good reviews on them. I'm curious about everyone's experience on these bullets or any others on larger big game like elk at distances over 500yards?

215 berger hybrid over h1000 does very magical things. Easy to load for as well. Hopefully Bros chimes in as he has the most terminal performance records that I have seen.

I'll have to look at the hybrids. How does the h1000 compare to hodgdon 4831? I got a bunch of the 4831 but hear good things about the h1000!

I asked the same question because I had a bunch of h4831sc. I was told you won't get the velocity out of the h4831 that you will in the h1000. Also your ES will be greater.

Gamekings are outstanding bullets as well. That being said, I use the berger 215's out of my win mag. Unbelievable combination.

Pretty hard to beat the 215 Berger if your twist rate will handle it and you have a appropriately slow Hodgdon Extreme powder to get good velocity and precision out of it. That is quite a bullet very well designed.

I'll be the odd man out as I am not a fan of Berger bullets for hunting applications. My new build in works is based on the Hornady ELD's. I have other customs built based Barnes ttsx bullets.

I shot my buck last year with the 215 bergers at 785 yards and it did wonderful. I've had good luck with Bergers and they have been very accurate and fast with the loads I have worked up for my guns.

The 300 win and the 215 Berger is an awesome combination, especially for long range elk. My 300 win sets at 31 and zero for long range big game kills. Most were elk. 200 yards to 1300.

I shoot them from a 1 in 10 twist.

H-1000 and a Federal GM 215 M is the primer I like. I see most 300 win mags shoot the 215's well seated between touching the lands and off the lands by .040"

I think I'll stick with my gamekings for this year since they're shooting great! Got the shoot out to a 1,000 last night for the first time really. But let's say it's the shooter not the gun haha!

I think I'll stick with the 4831 since I'm shooting around 2950fps. This long range shooting is addicting!

Google is your friend. A website called Reloaders Nest compiled a Burn Rate Chart and you can use it to compare the different burn rates for reloading powders.
http://www.reloadersnest.com/burnrates.asp
If you are using Chrome browser there is a drop down at the top right of the page with three lines next to the address bar. Click that and then the Find tab. Input H1000 or 4831 and you can quickly find the powder that you are looking for in the chart. There is a difference between IMR and Hodgdon 4831 powder.
Slower powders will give better results when shooting heavy for caliber bullets... unless the powder is too slow and then you will not be burning all of the powder in time so you will need a faster powder. So it depends what caliber, bullet weight, barrel length, etc.
I also like the 215g Berger Hybrid. Awesome bullet for sure!
