I’ll be shooting both factory and handloads. 243’s are very common around my parts, just like the 6creed for being new and different. Lower recoil for the kids is a large motivating factor.I don't know what you gain by going down a single millimeter in bullet size. I'd go .25-06 if factory ammo is a requirement. Or, maybe consider going with a fast-twist .220 Swift. That would be an absolute hammer with 77- to 88-grain bullets. You would need to reload or buy custom-loaded ammo though.
Several successful SA’s built on LA’s? What are they if you don’t mind me asking.I have several short action cartridges built on long actions. The magazine is the only thing that need luck or magic.
I heard the x284 mentioned, if you go that way you'll need 300win magazines but they feed flawlessly.
DBM’s? Details on your 243 la?260, 260ai, 243, 6xc, 308, 22-250.
Forgot to mention I’m going short 18-20” for suppressor, so I’ve not considered the 25-06.I don't know what you gain by going down a single millimeter in bullet size. I have a long action Origin. Nothing else so far.If all you have is a long-action stock, I think you're better off swapping the stock and going short action. You'll be happier in the long run.
I've done both. Kevin Wyatt has a good video on spring tuning if you have feeding trouble.DBM’s? Details on your 243 la?
I'll have a XLR 4.0 Element folding chassis with all carbon fiber accessories that will be going up for sale shortly. If interested, feel free to PM me.I have a long action Origin. Nothing else so far.
What bolt face diameter do you have?Let’s say a fella just finished a rifle build and found himself in possession of an extra stock that the wife doesn’t know about. And this fella already built himself a nice 7mm rem mag as his “one rifle to rule them all” for reasons that didn’t lead him to building a 280 ai. Since this fella has a perfectly good long action stock laying around he might be wanting to build a smaller caliber long action to use for smaller game or as a loaner rifle for the kid/wife. Which long action cartridge would you recommend? Something in a 6mm? A 25-06? Something that has available factory ammo for sure. But what?

Bummer…hoping the 6creed could work out of a DBM…not sure I want to venture off into the territory of something like that 6mmAI. Don’t want to admit it, but my best bet may be swapping this LA for a SA.I had a post64 mod 70 LA 30-06. Tested a bunch of cases to see what it would feed. Creedmoor case was a no go. Wanted a 6mm of some kind. Chose 6mmAI, it’s long enough to feed out of the factory bdm. Dies were instock, Kampfield has the reamer, got a bunch of brass posting a wtb here in the classifieds.
