Ordered a tikka in 7-08 interested in shooting hornady 139gr sst. Have some lapua brass. Anyone use the above bullet in there 08. Thinking I or H4895 and or VARGET. Interested in your results with this bullet.

Varget is my go to powder for my 7mm-08. I have loaded both 139 sst and 139 hornady interlock bullets. The interlocks shot slightly better and are what I use for deer.

I haven't loaded any, but I have shot a lot of deer and deer sized game with this bullet, both in the 7.08 Remington and the 7mm Rem Mag.

It's a stone cold killer.

I used to shoot 139 sst out of my 7-08. They were Hornady Superformance factory loads, and the shot well and the bullets held together better than Ballistic Tips. I went to handloading though, so I never did figure out what the load was. FWIW, I shoot 140 grain Accubonds out of a Tikka 7-08 now and it likes 40ish grains of IMR 4895 (among many other powder/projectile combinations). I think you'll get that thing to shoot for you.

I've had great success with the 120 grain Barnes TTSX with either varget or CFE223. The Barnes have been deadly on whitetail. The interlock shoots well, too. Haven't tried SST as I have lots of Barnes and the interlock.

The Interlock is indeed a good bullet too. I have used those successfully, but just not nearly as much as the SST.

I use the Eld-x in my 6.5 PRC rifles some, and it's worked well so far. Got some for the new 7mm PRC too.

Who has used the 150 gr Eld-x in the 7.08? I am curious as to how it's terminal performance has been.

I've used the 150. Its not bad. I prefer the 162 eldm at 7/08 velocity. Stiff load of varget and lapua brass.

Varget and the 139 SST are what I’ve got loaded up for the 7-08 I’ve got. Shoots good and drops the deer.

That’s our preferred bullet in the Mighty -08. Mv around 2790 fps. Hunting party of three, sometimes four.

Elk at 409 yards. Took 3 shots although the first one killed him. If they’re standing, we’re shooting.

Deer to 475 yards or so. Lots of them, nothing needed a second shot.

A couple of antelope but they die easy. This one didn’t go far.

Bloodshot unremarkable. Haven’t recovered a bullet yet. Placement is critical, of course.

They’re readily available, fairly inexpensive, they shoot great, and they kill well. Tough combo to beat.
