LiteOutdoors XL stove vs Seek Outside SXL stove

just got a Redcliff and I'm trying to find the best stove. the LO is bigger and packs down smaller but i would like some input....thanks

I hate my liteoutdoor stove. I felt like it failed after one week in the field. All the rivnuts are loose, the legs don’t have the original angle any more and I can’t get a good seal using the baffle. Customer service was nonexistent when I reported these problems and sent pictures.

I think the lite outdoors is the best stove out there. It is a bit of a pia to put together. However with good wood I can get a 6 hour burn before I need to add wood. I hunt sub zero temps with my 40 degree sleeping bag....that's how much i like the liteoutdoors stove.

I own the baffle....it really makes it hard to put together. I never use the baffle as I am not convinced it actually works. I understand the concept just not convinced so i leave it home.

I bought the biggest stove they made. If you want to make it smaller you could buy an additional body for a smaller stove.

Lite outdoors has some minor design flaws and is a pain to assemble. I wouldn’t buy another.

Flaws being pipe diameter and spark arrestor for those wondering.

Iv burnt the crap out of it though. Looks like I dragged it behind the truck all the way to the trailhead. Still burns fine though most times.

Oh and short legs. Dosnt seem like a flaw till you’re burning whatever is under the stove at 2 am.

Nothing wrong with lite outdoors stove just have to understand it is verryyyy lite weight and takes practice to setup….initial setup and burn critical for future use otherwise dimples/bending of foil can complicate future assembly….it is not a wall tent stove and takes practice

What do you think is wrong with the pipe diameter? Uses the same diameter as Seek.

I don’t have anything scientific but I never had a kifaru pipe of larger diameter clog completely while burning. I have with the lite outdoors a few times. Really sucks.

It’s compounded by the fact that you can’t clean the LO spark arrestor while burning, so all that crap goes up the pipe. As I usually end up not using the spark arrestor because it’s caused me too many smoke filled tents. Vs a kifaru or seek outside stove where you can clear a spark arrestor while burning, catching more of the soot.

Iv filled my tipi with smoke way more with the lite outdoors stove than I ever did with others.

Sounds like an easy fix. Buy the Seek damper assembly and use on the LO stove body. Would solve that issue pretty quick. An added expense, yes, but cheaper than buying a new stove

My LO stove has lived a good life. I’m ready for something new. At this point I would need to rig a damper, buy a new stove body, and figure out a way to extend the legs.

You would also need to figure out a way to keep the weight of the pipe off the stove body with a seek damper.

I’ve had my LO for a few years. I bought it because I thought it would be the easiest to pack. It’s done fine in that department. I’ve never gotten really long burn times, don’t know what the trick is there since I usually am burning whatever branches I can scrounge up, preferably pine. As mentioned, PITA to setup. I’ve wondered if the seek would work better and allow larger wood? As mentioned, don’t use the spark arrester, I have been using the baffle but have been tempted not to with the pain of setup

I've had a bunch of different stoves. Seek, Kifaru, LO, home made, etc. For me the LO is the best option. I would also rather put it together than most of the others with all the wingnuts and rod feet. You also don't have any small little pieces(wingnuts and rod feet) to loose with the LO. Burn times are about the same with them all(although the LO baffle setup adds quite a bit of time and seems to burn cleaner). I have emailed and ordered parts and pieces from LO with no issues. Always got a timely response and product always arrived quickly from them.
