Lightweight thermos

Ended up getting one of these as it appears that it would work great for backpacking which I do all year long.
This morning at 0800, I put boiling hot water in it and measured the temp. I'll check it after 12 hours and measure it again.

Preheating a Zoji with boiling water before filling it with freshly brewed coffee will raise the temp of the coffee and scald your mouth hours later. I'm surprised it doesn't come with a lawyer label.

I wonder if these things are similar to my Contigo? Someone got me this thermos bottle that keeps coffee and tea scalding hot all day, almost annoyingly hot. But fits my truck cup holders perfect.

You get what you get.
It's very scientific. 😀
I got my own anecdotal evidence, I’ve burnt my mouth drinking from mine after having had coffee in it for 6 hours several times :)

I think what you see for data point number 1 is key. The inside is so thin there isn’t much metal in there to cool the liquid down. The others I have are cooler to start because that liner absorbs so much heat.

They work so well, that I recommend you get the beverage to the temp you like to drink it at before putting it in. If I put freshly brewed coffee in mine, I have to wait a bit before its a drinkable temp

Not to discount the Zoji, but you’ll have a hard time beating the Stanley Trigger Action mugs for coffee while hunting. No lid to open, just squeeze the trigger and drink. Release trigger and it seals shut. Stays hot for hours. I normally fill it at 6:30am and finish it off at 11am on work days. When left full, it will stay scalding hot for 8 hours or more. Just one issue….they discontinued them last year is…. I picked up one off eBay when I found out just to make sure I have a backup.
