Buddy and I hunt sika deer in Maryland every year, hiking in consists of around a mile hike in chest waders in water up to waist deep. Once we get out to where we hunt we like to change into a set of hiking boots to avoid wearing chest waders for 14+ hours in our stands.
Biggest problem we run into is just how much room it takes up in our packs to do this. Temps can be up to 80's in october and down to teens in January. I currently use a pair of Morrell hiking shoes that I take out with me. Anyone have any decent suggestions on how we can save room/ maybe weight?
Anything we shoot out where we wade to we end up quartering out and packing the meat out instead of the whole animal, so pack out can be upwards of 90-100lbs between deer, gear, gun, and shoes. Currently use a kuiu pack, 2300cu in.
