The NXS 2.5-10 is probably going to be what I buy because I have so much confidence in my bigger NXS. I would like to know what other scopes are as solid in in your opinion.

SWFA SS 6X or 3-9x - both in the 19-20oz range....NF SHV 3-10X42 is another good option if you don't mind taking off the turret cap - mine is 21oz

3-9 swfa is 20.4oz and 6x is about 21.5

Regardless of priceAfter owning a nxs 2.5-10 i’d Take the ffp swfa everyday.

I have to get one of those SWFA’s. I have a .243 that needs a scope too. I’ll have to give that 6x a try.

March 3-24x42 is ~21.5 oz. I don't own one, but have been looking into them. The only apparent complaints are the parallax adjustment, and tight eye relief at high mag.

Just picked up a 6x42 SWFA to fill the spot in the meantime.

I have the March 2.5-25x42 and I think its best in its class for weight and dependability. It only ways an ounce more then the NXS but you get a much larger range of magnification. I have a 5.5-22x56 nsx and I think the glass is more crisp in the March. I haven't had any issues with tracking with the March or NXS. I would look through both if you can.

I'm fairly new to shooting over 400 yards so take this for what it's worth...This March I bought my first SWFA (6x),, Right after ordering I was concerned I may be under scoped but several RS members assured me I wouldn't be dissapointed .. And sure enough, Since then I have ordered 3 more to replace other scope I have lol... My wife and I have no problem ringing our 885 yard 12" steel gong with them (as long as we make correct wind calls)

I have the 2.5-10 NXS and the 3-10 SHV. I have the same reticle in both. The upside to the NXS is exposed turrets and zerostop. The downside is the exposed windage turret, which I would prefer to have it covered. The upside to the SHV is I like the parallax better and you get covered windage, but the downside is the capped elevation.

I like both but if I had to just have 1 I would go NXS, but if you’re on a budget the SHV would be hard to turndown.

A lightweight, reliable tracking and durable scope for hunting is a unicorn. Seems that way anyway. I guess if you consider 20oz lightweight there are some that can be considered. But most are heavier than I’d prefer, have thin reticles which don’t work as well in low light, and/or have tall, exposed knobs. Edit: and as a personal opinion, I don’t want an illuminated reticle. No batteries in my scope.

An SWFA 3-9 SS HD with capped windage, an El dial about half as tall, quick focus eye piece, and a slightly modified reticle would hit the mark for me even if remaining heavier than desired.

I've had great luck with the zeiss/meopta target turrets.

I just sold a slick little 2-8×32 with turrets that was bang on for me on a couple of 6# rigs.

Amen! People are desperate for this exact item, and the industry continues to avoid it. Puzzling.

Thanks guys, I’m really going to consider that March. As far as lightweight, its relevant to what I’m looking for, anything around 20oz is perfect. Reliable tracking is the most important factor for me. Thinking about it, 20oz isn’t bad for all the features those things have.

A while back the saying was high speed low drag. The March 3-24 checks a lot of boxes, until you put it in use. Then it falls short. Stupid finicky parallax, illumination sucks and the scopes fairly unusable above 18x anyways.

After swapping too many scopes The last 3-4 years especially.. if I need more then 12x to make a kill, i shouldn’t be worrying about half a pound on a platform anyways. SFP on lower mag range scopes doesn’t make sense. Have owned quite a few. Won’t go back.

Bushnell lrhs 3-13
Swfa 3-9
6x

And I’ll eat crow because I woulda flopped the 3-9 and 6x not that long ago. It handles harsh lighting better then the 6x.

Have you vetted that Bushnell for tracking reliability? I agree I don’t need that much magnification, especially on the rifle I’m trying to keep somewhat light weight.

Tough to say exactly how many shots it’s dialed in. Rough guess would be 2000 centerfire, 2000 22lr.

It’s shot more rounds but a fair bit were hold offs, or follow up shots.

22lr were all dialed and a lot more of a workout for the erector.

I have a few of the lrhs/LRHSi scopes. They track bang on. I've taken mine to 1600 and back a bunch of times. It's better than I am.

The new nx8 20x top end may be a good option when they release this summer as well as looking slightly heavier then tour 20 oz goal at the review matt cashell is doing now on the leupold mk 5 3-18x 44 scope, have heard great things on the mk 5 and the nx8 is suppose to be better than nxs glass not quite atacr
