Cool results! What have been your results in the field? Any multi-day all day every day rain trips? Have you stayed dry? Any issues with the fabric wetting out or leaking through? Any durability issues?

I haven't had any extended trips with them yet but they have kept me dry while doing chores around the house in the rain.

If you're looking for truly waterproof you'll need to go with rubber/PVC, and it won't be ultra light wt. For UL wt., but not waterproof, I've had good luck with the Kuiu Teton and Marmot Precip. I don't recall what the Precip weighs, but the large Teton is right about 9 oz.

I agree 100%. Any thing made of Gore-Tex or marketed as breathable is not completely waterproof. As stated above, anything that is totally waterproof is not light. Recreating in real soaking rain for hours or days requires a ;non breathable fabric. As a licensed gulf coast charter captain, I've driven an open skiff through heavy rain many times. I once spent a week on the north slope tundra where it rained 24 hrs a day for a week. I was very comfy in my Grundens of Sweden rain gear. Most mul;ti layer Gore-Tex type raingear is fine for western hunts, because you generally don't hunt in hours long rain. I usually take a 100% Gore-Tex uninsulated wind breaker I ordered from Cabela's years ago on all my Wyoming hunts. Works great for rain showers and snow. But, I always remember "it ain't completely waterproof."

I've got quite the spreadsheet as far as comparing rain gear haha. Ive been wearing the Kuiu Katana and it's heavier than I'd like. Church TR looks like a legit option but open to any suggestions.

The lightest rain gear I’ve found for more than just an occasional rain are the Sitka Dewpoint series. Full 3 layer Goretex, full pit zips, great hood and pretty darn durable, especially considering the lightweight.

I appreciate it. They sure are proud of their gear haha. But sounds like a lot of guys swear by the Dewpoint.

I keep an OR helium 2 in my pack, real small, weighs something like 6 ounces, and has kept me dry all day long. Doesn’t breathe too well though so you will sweat.

Way too many guys associate condensed moisture on the inside of Goretex with leaking. I’ll start believing in all the leaking when the Goretex fishing waders I stand around in all day start letting water through. That’s not just water sitting on the fabric, but it actually has pressure behind it.

I don't think their target audience is hunters, but I have an older rain jacket for running from Gorewear and it is very lightweight and waterproof. It is not breathable and seems pretty fragile. A lot of my running is on trails so I haven't had any problems yet. I seem to recall that it wasn't even rated for a backpack, just a running vest. I ordered a size large (what I wear in most clothes) and it is only large enough to fit a base layer and maybe a very light vest/midlayer underneath.

This is their current model which looks to use a new ePE membrane to comply with the new PFAS regulations. No idea how it performs, but it is advertised at 7.1oz and able to handle a "light pack." Might be worth looking at if you only need a jacket for the rare storm in the early season.

I have switched to the grunden tourney. It seems to be the lightest truly lightweight jacket I’ve found. In a true down pour that lasts days it’s nice to have rubber. I bring this on all my sheep hunts. Blocks the wind quite well also.

The new SG X1 is super light (9.1 oz) and packable. It reminds me of a runners layer. That being said, it’s a great lower 48 piece but I wouldn’t be comfortable with it up north.
