Rascal Minimalist is light.
Consider carbon barrel Bergara BMR also.
I have both, and the Minimalist is fun, but it's hard to compare to the BMR with a light prism for field accuracy.

I looked into the Rascal Minimalist not too long ago and didn’t see a weight posted on Savage’s website to compare to the standard Rascal. However, I would think that the Minimalist would be heavier than the standard since the stock is laminated.

...from what I have heard so far the .22 pistol suppressed is still super loud. Am I wrong in thinking this?
Suppressed bolt 22s are quieter than pistols. Both are pretty quiet. You just need a full-size .22 suppressor on the pistol.

Yes, but the Minimalist has a threaded barrel.
I wonder if the threaded barrel minimalist indicates they'll eventually offer factory threaded base models.
Machine shop threading vs factory threading is a cost that is a little hard to justify on cheaper rifles.

Keystone/ chipmunk makes single shot pistols with threaded barrels for around $120. There's also an aluminum chassis that's compatible with all their guns that you could put a diffrent grip on.

Keep an eye on Dark Mountain's Stowaway rifle. It's only in 5.7x28 for now, but they've said they're working on different chamberings and the barrels and bolt faces are user-swappable, would be amazed if they neglected to make a 22LR barrel. Should still be a half pound lighter than a Cricket Minimalist even after adding an optic.

I’ve never seen or heard of these before. Looks like a cool rifle. It’s interesting thst they put the bolt in the left and side and show right handed shooters shooting it in the video.

I know you said you wanted a rifle but are you married to that? I carry a Ruger MKIV 22/45 Lite (pistol) and it's great for grouse. I keep a small red dot on it and it works great at the ranges I'm usually taking grouse, especially during elk season. It has a threaded barrel and it super reliable, although occasionally it'll stovepipe if you run super light loads like CCI Quiet's - but they're worth it. I feel like you don't even really need a suppressor if you're running those...

It's also great for rabbits and other small game.

Yeah, I wasn’t in love with the left-side bolt at first, but I think it’s intended to allow operation without taking your trigger hand off the grip. I’m tempted to pick one up but I can put that $400 to better use haha

Here's a though for existing 10/22 owners looking to put their guns on a diet for relatively little money. A Faxon arms 16" pencil barrel for my 10/22, on sale from Brownells right now for $133.99 minus 15% with code 15BF. Magpul Moe X-22 stock is $55 before same coupon. Add 7% Active Junky cashback and you have a 1.5-2 lb savings on your gun for well under $200.

I've ordered these parts and will post my rifle weight once installed.

I have had my eye on that Faxon 10/22 pencil barrel. The multiple recent reviews on Brownells about the barrel being too large in diameter to fit in the receiver have made me reconsider. Please let us know how that barrel works out for you!

I really like my Kidd Ultra Lightweight threaded barrel. It is probably not the absolute lightest at 20 ounces, but the aluminum sleeve keeps it rigid and pretty accurate.

I read on a 10/22 rimfire forum that the faxon ✏ barrel can be frozen and lubed to facilitate installation. I'm willing to put in a little effort for the low price.

Good to know! If it's anything like a thermal fit AR barrel going into an upper you can put a heat gun or torch on the receiver as well. I'll be interested to hear how the install goes and how it shoots.

Faxon pencil barrel went on with some heating of the receiver and persuasion with a 2-lb hammer and block of wood on the end of the muzzle. The barrel probably will never come off!
3lb 11.2 oz naked and 4lb 11.8 oz with 3-9 Nikon scope. Tempting to switch the scope for a lightweight red dot to keep the weight below 5lb once my suppressor arrives. 1000012622.jpg
