I've come to the point in my life where cheaters are needed for up close reading. Anyone know what the lightest cheaters are? I've been using cheap Foster Grant CostCo pack lately in the +1.25 power.

Just weighed my "full size" cheaters that are on my loading bench. .5 ounce. Don't know how you could get much lighter. Maybe skeletonize the shit out of the frame with a drill?

Fractional ounces add up to ounces which add up to pounds. The case for these things is likely heavier than the glasses themselves.

I carry the Thin Optics (w/ear pices) hunting but not because of weight….because of the extremely thin profile even when they are in the aluminum case they come with.

God Bless.

That place is as bad at kuiu at pushing out ads afterwards. Every site I goto seems to have one of their ads now, including UToobe.... we'll see how they work. I like the looks of how compact they are.

I've been on a similar quest and gone through half of amazon's stock already. I've got to go with the fishemen's slimvision. I don't know if they're the absolute lightest but they are super light, durable and somewhat flexible. I've used them the last 3-4 seasons, keep them in my cargo pocket and only broken one pair. At $10 bucks a pop I can live with that.

Several years ago I purchased these at AIH, and I think they cost around $5. I just leave them in my little toiletry bag, so I know where they are at all times when I’m out in the field. In the little hard case, they’re about the size of a cigar.

A "guy I know" uses a cheap monocle on a string, pretty handy thing to have for taking a quick look at maps, phone, gps.

These:
For emergency, short term situations these are awesome. I'm also just at 1.25-1.5 and have these always on the back of my phone since they're so low profile.

Reading in the tent at night, dark restaurants reading a menu, etc. they're great.

They're not ideal for long term reading but for the backcountry it'd be hard to do better, especially for the thinness and weight.

The magnetic “clic” brand readers with the flexible rubber loop certainly arent lightest, but are an absolute gamechanger in terms of having your readers handy in the field. Plus they are guaranteed to impress middle aged chicks.

I’ve been using these for years. They work great and the polycarbonate is very clear.
They are not durable but I keep buying them for what they do well.

Really, they are as perfect as readers can be for anything where you might lose or break glasses in a pocket or pack, or not be able to reach them under layers, but you want them with you and handy. The only exception might be seeing to dial a turret on a rifle scope, in which case the dedicated turret magnifiers might be better.

Also, I friggin hate this conversation. I was like 30 it seems like yesterday, WTH happened?!
