Light standing height tripod

I was wondering what the best options are for a light standing height tripod. I have a Promaster 525 that gets close, but it's not quite tall enough for glassing with the 15x binos off the Outdoorsmans pan head I use. I know Outdoorsmans makes a tall model, and there is the Slik 634 but I wondered if there are other brands I should consider. I want to use my Outdoorsmans head on whatever I get since all my optics and shooting rest are set up for that adapter system.

Thanks for your help.

I also thought about just adding a center post extension to my Outdoorsmans compact medium and wondered if anyone had tried that?

Not too much help here, but I'll tell you that I bought the Slik 634 over the 525c for just that reason. I'm 6' with boots on and can easily stand looking through binos on the outdoorsmans micro head with the tall adapter.

The Slik 634 and the Sirui T-1204XL are your best options, both are just over 2lbs and fold down to 18". The Sirui T-1204XL is nicer overall with almost 4x the payload capacity of the Slik 634 making it much more stable even with lighter loads because you can stabilize it with more weight hanging off the hook. The Sirui T-1204XL also has the push button leg angle adjusters (like the Promaster) while the Slik 634 has the annoying pull tabs. However, you're paying a premium for these features as the Sirui is $100 more. I also have the XC525c and if it were my money I would either get an extension or pony up for the Sirui T-1204XL.

I’ve owned most of the Outdoorsmans tripods over the years and ultimately they are my favorite to recommend.

For the price, however, I really like Vortex tripods. They changed the arm design of the standing-height Pro from twist to hinge. If you can find the twist version, it is fairly light, durable standing option that slides (rather than wrenches) into packs for under $200.

I have, a long time ago, and sold the extension almost immediately. It wasn’t a bad solution, but not great. It was for a petty reason, like the extension pole stuck out of the top of my zipper of my tripod pocket at the time.

Anyone familiar with sunpak? They have a reasonably priced 63 tripod and it’s light

I run the slik 634. I am 5'11" tall and it is more than tall enough for me to stand glassing with my 15s. I put an outdoorsmans quick release adapter on it and run either an outdoorsmans regular pan head or pistol grip with panner. The tall adapter is nice on the 15s.

The pistol grip with panner really adds some height to the setup and I prefer it with binos. The regular pan is my go to for my swaro 80 spotter.

When looking at tripod head combos is the height listed without the head? Looking for something I can stand and look through when needed.

Thanks
