Looking at a sako 223 with 1/12 barrel. What bullets would be suitable for this rifle and deer hunting. I would be staying within 300 yds.....or closer if needed to be.

Nosler 64gr bonded. It's a blunt almost round nose designed for deer. I have some I'd sell if in need.

I have had very good results with with speer's 55 grain Gold Dot but I imagine they are as unobtainable for Americans as they are for us here in Canada currently. Winchester's 64 grain power point and Sierra's 63 grain SMP are also worth consideration, with Sierra typically being more accurate in my experience.
Hornady item number 2266 is also a reasonable performer in my opinion, and if you can get them to stabilize Barnes' 50 TTSX or 45 TSX if you like monos. I have a friend who has been stacking deer with the 45 from a Sako vixen .222, a .223 should improve performance.

I had a 1:12 Weatherby Vanguard that wouldn't stabilize anything over 60 grains. I killed several deer and pigs with Hornady's 55 gr sp

My current 223 is a Tikka 1:8 twist and it shoots everything well. I settled on the 77 gr TMKs.

Let us know what you decide on and how it works.

i shot a mule deer doe a few years back at 340yds with 55 grain soft point, quartering away and bullet didn't make it to off side shoulder but she died within 60yards

Another vote for the Hornady 55 SP. The other one is the 62 grain fusion bullet. You used to be able to find them as “pulls” for cheap. They should be stable in a 12 twist.

55gr Sierra gameking or 60gr partition. The gamekings were available on midway last time I looked.
