That's great to see. Our first is due in November. I'd like to get the kids outside as soon as possible. What are the sleeping arrangements like when you take a small child camping? How do you ensure they are comfortable and warm? Any others tips or advice is certainly welcome.

Yes, kids have very stamped passports and almost weekly in the mountains. Been that way since they were born.

Try it with twins.....
Try it with a 3 year old and a 7 month old.

One kid is a cakewalk....throw another little one in the mix, and it gets interesting to say the least. Pretty much have to put all my hunts on the back burner for at least a couple of years. At least it gives me a chance to build up some points for when I finally can go.

Got two 3yr olds that were born 3months early. Luckily they are completely healthy, but it ain't easy. That said, during the winter, spring, and summer I do my chores...and get the fall off. Its getting easier, but 3yrs ago it was a full time gig.

4 year old son and 8 month old daughter here. It's definitely a challenge with 2!! My son is pretty self sufficient and actually very helpful. Tough with the baby now that she's on the move. I think the most challenging times are when they're mobile but don't really understand much, getting into everything, doesn't like to be in a carrier or stroller too long, etc. I'm going to try to take my son for some short evening hunts this year in a blind. I managed to get 200 pounds of cereal rye planted yesterday with both kiddos with me. That felt like a major win!

I live in NY too. My son is always with me checking trail cams, riding on the tractor doing food plots, and all that other silly whitetail stuff. It's freakin great.

That was a huge accomplishment for you putting in that cereal rye grain with both with you. I used to do a ton of different food plots, but now I only do 4 or 5 smaller plots because my time to manage them all is simply gone. Two plots I transitioned to clover so I only need to spray, or mow them a few times a year is all. It’s difficult with my 3 year old because he ALWAYS wants to be with me when I’m doing things, but I only get a few hours here or there to do things.

I did manage to get a turkey this past spring with him in the blind with me though.

Great post! I'm a firm believer in getting kids exposed to sports and the outdoors, prepares them for life
and keeps them healthy in mind and body. During one of our hikes my wife and I came across a young woman with a newborn strapped to her chest. She and her husband were on a overnight backpack trip.
Talk about starting young.
