Just picked up a Henry model x 45-70, looking to put some form of an optic on top. Something quick handling for training that will also help for those 100-150 yard hunting shots. Any thoughts?

I am far from being serious about rifles so take that into account.

Grabbed 2 Bushnell 1.5-4.5x32 (they're marketed as 1.5-4x32) for a 30/30 and an AR. Glass appears pretty clear to me and they've done what I've needed them to (without woods use yet). Under $100 if you look around.

Lever gun is shooting minute of chew can at 100. Still figuring out what the AR likes to shoot.

My marlin 45-70 has a Leupold 1.5-4. Works well enough that I’ve never thought to replace it

I run 2-10x40s on my 2 Marlin GBL 45-70s.
I've killed animals from 10 yards to 220 yards. Never wanted or needed anything "handier". I have no desire to handicap myself at moderate distance or in low light.

I have a Leupold 1-4 Firedot on my 45-70. Really like the Firedot. Longest kill has been a hog at 167 yds.

An accupoint 1-4 or 1-6 doesn’t require batteries (fiber optic/tritium illumination) and has a few reticle choices. The bright red triangle post may work well for this.
