Almost 2 years ago, I was picking between these 2 scopes for a rifle I had just picked up. I'd say both are good scopes, and that it comes down to personal preference.
I went with the VX5 and have had no complaints

If I'm not mistaken the VX-5 has 75 MOA of elevation adjustment, at least according to their website.

Yes but it doesnt matter if you use a 20 MOA rail and have over 50 MOA available to dial, you are limited to two turns of the turret. 37.5 MOA is all you're going to get regardless how much is available.

Although the VX5/6 HDs are nice scopes, I’ve migrated to all Zeiss. I prefer the reticle options for Zeiss, turrets are not limited to a certain number of rotations and the Zeiss turret clicks are more positive.

I am a big fan of the VX5. I have been putting the 44mm windplex on all my hunting rifles. For the money it's hard to beat the glass and the weight. 44 is a little more compact to fit in an Eberlestock scabbard too.

When I was shopping for a scope I went with the vx6 44mm firedot. I was able to get the vx6 for 1500, so I figured the jump was worth it for the extra mag and flip caps. But wish it was wind plex. The vx5 is a great optic for the $

I had nothing but issues with my v4. It would loose it zero often. Cost me a lot in ammo, gas money and time. Switched to nighforce
