VX-6HD Riflescopes Archives - Leupold Optics | Leupold Optics

I am pretty excited about the debut of these optics for my hunting rifles. Locking, low-profile, tactical turrets with a second revolution indicator, waterproof, shockproof, etc. It'll come with a free Custom Ballistic Dial if that's your thing, motion sensed, push button adjustable illumination, reversible magnification throw lever for you south paws, and the HD glass is supposed to be on par with their Mk6/8 line which is definitely their best stuff. My only complaint is the lack of a simple Milradian or Mildot reticle, I get it, for hunting most prefer a simple plex reticle, but why force us into MOA based reticles or BDC's that don't allow you to do your own math and dope? I'd really like the 2-12x42 for my 257 wby and the 3-18x44 or x50 for my 300 wm but I'd like to see a T-MR MRad reticle first along with some posted weights. If the weights are sub 20 oz. I'll likely have to give them a whirl and move my Vortex Viper PST's down the road as the new Gen II PST's got heavier than the first Gen's.

Those look pretty sweet. I wonder if they will put zl2 turrets on a standard vx6.

I'm not following how the reticle leveling system works.

If you call them I bet they'd set it up how you want. I just saw that they offer metric adjustments with a couple models so you might be good to go

Read some more about these, seems like some great ideas. The reticle leveling function makes the illumination blink if reticle is canted more than 1 degree. If reliable that would be a great function.

Also happy with their new Impact reticles as their previous options for wind holds were lousy. Now that the ZL turrets will go 2 rotations (40 MOA) they are knocking this one out of the park.

I imagine they will start shipping after SHOT. Nothing in stock right now, but shoot me a PM if you are looking for prices.

I always wondered why they couldn't or wouldn't put a level indicator inside the scope that showed up in the field of view like I use my bubble on my bow sight.

I emailed Leupold to ask about ability to add the ZL2 turret and Impact 20-MOA reticle to my standard vx6 3-18x44. This is the response I got:

"The ZL2 elevation swap will cost $90 and the Impact 20-MOA $160 for a total of $250 (parts, labor and shipping back to you). Send your VX-6 in, preferably via UPS/Fedex, to: Leupold Product Service, 14400 NW Greenbrier Pkwy, Beaverton, OR 97006. If you ship via US Mail, ship PRIORITY with Delivery Confirmation. Include a short note with your contact info (name, return address, daytime phone #, email address, etc.) and a description of the issue, or what you want to have done. A technician will contact you upon receipt to confirm the order or work and exact charges, then collect your credit card info. Current turnaround on repairs/retrofits is 3-5 weeks approximately"

Cabelas has these for pre order and I just can't believe the prices. The 4-24 is 2k....just don't see this optic standing up to a Nightforce or the like. The only small advantage I see is the 10oz or so weight difference. I really wanted to try one of these out but with the spotty hold zero/turrent problems I have seen on other forums and the huge price increase, no way. Hopefully the turrent system is better on these. I will carry an extra 10oz to have and SHV or NXS.

The SHV is a nice optic, I really like the 4-14x50 FFP model. The problem is that the glass is extremely over weight for a hunting optic. It sits at 30oz and nearly 15" long when the Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP is a mere 22.8oz and almost a full inch shorter in comparison and I think it's too long and heavy for a hunting optic. I think the NF is a bit more robust in its build quality and durability but with the Vortex warranty I wouldn't put a knock against it. The new 2nd Gen PST got better turrets, Razor HD level glass, new reticles, and look more robust. Unfortunately it came at a cost to weight and size as they sit closer to the specs of the SHV albeit still lighter and cheaper.
