Looking at the VX-6 w/turrets as a possible scope for my long range build. How good is this compared to the VX3? Is the VX6 in the same category as the Zeiss and Swaro scope? No, I do not want Vortex. :)

I have a vx3...one of my hunting buddies has a vx6....in my opinion, vx6 is a lot clearer. When he put on his gun I looked through both side by side and it was a definite big improvement...if I wouldn't have just put some Kenton industry turrets on mine, I woulda went buy a vx6!!!

I've used a few of them, and they are better than the VX3 for sure. They also have 20 moa per revolution which is really nice for the CDS guys. I don't like their new turret lock system at all though.

What don't u like about turret? I washed a video and that was one thing I thought looked pretty cool!

I don't see the point in having a turret that locks every time you let go of the button. It takes away a little over a minute of the one revolution (20 moa) you are limited to. I prefer a zero stop instead of having to press a button to turn the elevation dial.

so if you make one rev, it will stop at 20moa. then you can press the button and continue to turn past 1 rev? or does it make the turret locked at all times the button in not pressed?

They do have a two revolution zero lock available now, I just talked to Leupold about it on the phone. You have to send yours in to get it changed over. The VX-6 4-24 comes with "Target turret" which has a zero stop as well, but it will spin until you run out of MOAs....or so the tech said. I have yet to see it in action on a you tube video, I have only even seen a few photos of it.

The vx 6 only locks at your zero you press the button to come off zero and then it doesn't lock again until you reach zero again. I played with a single revolution one last weekend and it is very slick. The single rev would go 18.5 moa. But as said they have a multi rev cap out or coming shortly

I though it just locks on RTZ

I very well could be wrong, but when I looked at the one with Zero lock, I thought it locked wherever you let off the button. I could have been mistaken though. All the ones I've shot are the regular 3-18 without the lock.

Just locks at zero the button is actaully really slick and easy to use. Great for a hunting set up imo.

They have the mark 6 or mark 8 with locking turret. It has 2 buttons you have to pinch together to get it to move. I didn't like that at all.

Got two but have not had the time to actually send in my info and get my caps yet. One is on my 7 mag and the other one is going on my new build. When I have time I will play around. Just reading what others are doing.

Anybody have one of the new VX-3's?

I have had a few chances to look through them, don't notice a difference in glass from the old ones. I have been looking at the 6.5-20 but paying $850 to $1000 for one varmint reticle just seems way to high for what you get. Weight is the only plus to me. I am stuck between the VX-6 and SHV.

About what I was expecting. It's pretty good glass already, not sure how they could have made super huge improvments without amping up the price.

Weight of the Leupold glass is a big plus.

SHV is on my list to try at some point. Also want to try something from Vortex as they are basically in my backyard here in WI.
