Does anybody have range and hunting experience with the Leupold VX-3i scopes with CDS? I'm specifically looking at a 4.5-14x40 or 50 with Wind Plex reticle. Do they track? Are they repeatable?

Been looking at this scope, interested to see any responses to that question.

I had one and liked it. Glass was good. The custom turret they sent me was about a foot low at 500 but I went with factory specs instead of actually shooting it through a chronograph. Killed everything I shot at using it out to 358 yds.

I've had decent luck with dialing with my VX3's but you'll definitely hear some negative stories

I just purchased one haven't had any time behind it though. I was told the tracking was improved between the vx3 and vx3i

I'm hoping to pick one of the new VX3i LRS 6.5-20x50mm's up as soon as they are in stock. If I get one soon, I'll post how it works.

I bought the VX3i 4.5-14x50 wind plex with side focus last year for my Tikka T3 Lite 7mm and so far it's been great. I have just been using the MOA turret with it because I am still working on the "Perfect Load". Seams to track well. One thing I don't like is there is no way to keep the turret from rotating incidentally. Mine was off a full rotation the other day which lead to a coyote escaping. All through hunting season it stayed true through 2 1/2 months of abuse. I did see in the pamphlet for the free CDS turret what looked to be a push button lock, I need to call Leupold to find out the details. The MOA turret that the scope comes with is free spinning. Clear glass, light weight, lots of elevation adjustment, tuff, low profile turrets. all in all great scope. Just need to figure out a zero stop and I will we happy.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'd like to hear from more people who have tested it on the range and in the field dialing out to 300 or 500 yards, then back to 100 and shooting a sub-MOA group or center-punching a deer.

I have a few vx3 with cds that have been shot to 600-750yds and back to zero with good luck, good tracking, and repeatability. My vx6 has worked out to 850 and returned to zero. I am looking to get a new vx3i also so waiting for someone who owns one to chime in too

I had to send my VX-3 back a couple years ago because it wouldn't track. It wouldn't even adjust. Leupold made some erector adjustments and other corrections. Now it seems to do just fine. All I know is when I dial it out to 600 yards and back to 200 it's dead on.

It wasn't the VX-3i you're looking at, but last week I had a chance to shoot a yet to be available VX3 LRP and it was sweet! The turrets look pretty goofy in my opinion on that scope, but the glass was awesome and the turrets were completely repeatable. I dialed and worked my way from 200 yards out past 1000 and back and it was on the whole time. There were a bunch of them and they were getting lots of use and not one problem with the turrets were noted.

I'd say buy with confidence. Plus, the Leupold lifetime guarantee is rock solid should you have any issues.
