I don't feel like spending $1,000+ on a spotting scope.

It's main purpose will be to sit on kitchen table to check out birds, deer, etc. and some shooting off the same table out to about 250 yards. Already have 10x binoculars and want a little bit more.

Can get the SX-4 15-30x for about $400 or 20-60x for $600
The Gen 2 for about $800 and $1,000

Is it really worth $400 more for the Gen 2?
 
I don’t think so personally, they claim some brighter imaging with the new Diamond Coating and the integrated ARCA plate for mounting to the tripod. I have not looked at them side by side but given the info gathered and the reviews of the Gen 1 claiming as good or better than Razor, I went gen 1.
