Leupold reticle is crooked

I do have a funny ass story about the theory.

Sighting in muzzleloaders, my buddies are the guys to buy new shit and set it up, I dunno, say half our before the hunt. He goes to sight in his new muzzleloader with a scope from another rifle from someplace like Walmart. It was dialed to about 4” from center at 50 yards. He says that’s good enough, another friend says just shoot “one more time”, adjust the scope and have at it. He adjusts the scope, then my other buddy says you gotta tap on the scope to set it. So he does, he brings the rifle up and the crosshairs now make an “x” in the lower left corner of the view box hahahaha. Tap on it

Man.... for scopes that so many guys on here defend to the death that they are reliable......there sure seems to be a lot of them going back to the factory.

Possibly bc there’s a lot more sold due to price point, maybe? Law of averages? I love my leupolds, havnt sent one back yet. But if I could afford a swaro or Trijicon or nightforce, I would. But when I can get into a vx3hd for 500 bucks, hard for me to beat that. I also like the affordable simplicity, I don’t want big adjustable turrets and adjustable parallax, sometimes it’s hard to find that in upper higher end designer scopes

Well that’s your opinion. I’ve yet to meet anyone who thinks they are getting a 1000 dollar value for 500 bucks because it’s a Leupold. Surely you aren’t speaking about me. If you find em let me know and I’ll help you convince him his 500 dollar Leupold is most def not a 1k dollar zeiss. But I also don’t believe a 200 dollar scope is even comparable to a vx3hd. But hey, we all have opinions. It should be noted when life changes and I can swing a nice zeiss or swaro or a high end Leupold, if I can find the features in the zeiss or swaro , I’ll get one. Until then, my 500 dollar vx3hd does what I need and hasn’t let me down yet. Until then

Just to go ahead and put it out there, price doesn't reflect holding zero.

You might get better glass, but it's all over the map on price and actually holding zero.

This coming from someone who owns multiple scopes of what you mentioned.

I've always been a big Leupold supporter dating back to the early 90's. I've never had an issue. Bought a VX5 a couple years ago and I always felt the reticle was crooked. Scope level would be dead center but it just felt off to me. Finally put a plumb bob up and yep it's crooked! Will be sending it off.
No matter what scope it is, I always level off of the reticle, then verify clicks follow that straight line. If the clicks dont follow you have a problem.
