They are nearly the same reticle at low magnification levels. Leupold information below; please note the low magnification subtension widths for the “Heavy” Duplex compared to the Wide Duplex. With the exception of the VX5HD 1.5-5, it as thick as any other Leupold scope on low power settings.

***Leupold does not currently offer a “Heavy Duplex” only Fine Duplex, Duplex, and Wide Duplex. It would appear the standard Duplex has taken its place.

Thanks for that info. I believe they used to offer heavy duplex for the 2.5x and that's what i was looking for.

This was on my Marlin/Ruger 45-70 Trapper. It probably saw 50-60 rounds while mounted on the gun.
