We got my dad a pair of 10x50 bx4 for last season. Was a huge upgrade for him and he really enjoyed them. I run conquests myself and would definitely choose them over the leupolds, but for the price the bx4 is a nice bino. My biggest complaint with them is the poor fov.

I just got the bx-4 10x42 and although I am a relative newbie with Bino’s, I will say that the lens covers on both ends absolutely suck ass. The first thing I did was go online and try to find aftermarket solutions, but haven’t come up with anything yet.
(I am wide open for solutions on this)

I am doing a scouting hike tomorrow with them and will see how they do in low light.

I think for an under a grand bino the BX4 can’t be beat (excluding discounted or used). Glass is exceptional as is the focus and ergonomics. They’re also made in Japan unlike most under the $500 range. As stated above the covers suck, but I always ditch mine so they’re easier to slide in and out of a harness.

I thought the objective lens covers were fairly decent but the other ones are plastic and suck. I tried some Kowa BD2s that were almost identical optically to the BX4s but the covers for the eyepiece were rubber and seemed pretty nice. I'll be looking into lens covers and post back what or if I find something better.

There is absolutely nothing to complain about in the pro guide bino’s. You’d have to try and invent an issue There are better. But, none can be bought without doubling retail. For minimal if any upgrades.

my buddy has the BX-4's in 10x42; I thought the glass was pretty darn good- not quite to the old Gold Ring HD's, but close- what made me jealous of his was the weight, a full 1/2 lb lighter than my Gold Rings!

Yes. The pro guide glass is pretty dang good. But, it’s the over all package that is pleasing. They are so light it’s truly amazing. Ergonomically they just feel good. They are a great bargain.

I have the Leupold BX-4 10x50 and really the main and only negative i find are the eye cups. They do not stay put very well, at least in my opinion. I wish they had more positive clicks or stops. But to me that is definitely not a deal breaker because they are a great binocular, especially for the money.

Did any of you guys with the BX-4 Pro Guides find a better solution for lens caps?
I haven’t yet. But I took the eye piece caps off completely. I use a Rick young harness and lightweight cover on the binos and it works decent enough for now. Just slip it on and off. Still trying to come up with something better but it’s good enough really for me

Yeah for now i have that one removed as well. Trouble is for indoor archery season i don't use a full harness so looking to keep them protected until they go in the harness for hunting season.

The rick young system is pretty good . It might work for that situation.
