Just putting my new fiber fusion 308win Xbolt together with Leupold back country mounts and a vx-6 3-18. I’ve always used Talley mounts in the past, but figured I’d try the leupolds. Stupid question.... Am I doing something wrong with the mounts? Should they be facing a different direction? The mounts hang over the action opening? Is that normal? Haven’t shot it yet, but seems to eject ammo fine? Didn’t notice till after I had torqued everything, adjusted for eye relief, and boresighted scope. Otherwise I would have already tried just turning them around. Hoping to hear it’s fine before I start over. Lol

Im not a huge gun guy but i just bought an xbolt this past fal. If i remember right there was one ring meant for the back and one meant for the front. I was told it's important to pay attention to that. Maybe thats it?

There is no "right" orientation for the rings. The way you have them is typically used on a long action with a short scope. I'd flip the rear ring around, but you have to leave the front that way to get the scope back far enough. The rule of thumb is to space the rings as wide as possible (still keeping the scope in the correct position) when mounting a scope. It supports the scope better. But it has to be useable, so you do what you need to.

Or just leave it alone, that isn't a wrong way to do it. Yes, the base portion can overhang the action opening and that is normal.

Thanks! That makes sense, my other Xbolt with Talley is a long action, just did it the same.
