Maybe two years ago when I found out about Leukotape and I can say it’s been the most game-changing item in my kit. I just finished 10 days in Alaska and only retaped one. It’s was a lifesaver sidehilling in tundra. It’s also replaced all of the bandaids in my first aid kits and I try and leave a strip or two in all of my bags for travel.

FYI the tape is super awesome but it is possible to develop an allergy to it. After about 5 years of using the tape I now can't use it anymore.

Did you develop an allergy or did they perhaps change something in the adhesive?
It showed up over the course of using the same 2 rolls I had for a while. I'm also now allergic to Gorilla Tape so my assumption is that it is the latex in the adhesive. It really sucks because I have not been able to find anything close to comparable!

That sure sounds like an allergy. Leukotape P is what sticks for me. 30 years ago just about any adhesive bandaging tape would stick just fine and prevent a blister, but now they fall off as soon as there is a bit of sweat present.

I recently picked up some KT tape, that is made for blister prevention, comes in precut strips. Its actually works really well, i find sometimes leukotape sticks to my socks, where as the KT tape outer surface almost has like a brushed fleecy feel. Stays on just as well as leukotape as well.

My buddy and I were just talking about the biggest downside to the Leukotape is that you buy a whole roll just to use a foot of it, and by next year, the roll is junk and you have to buy another...

I tried Leukotape this year in ID the first week of Sept and still got hot spots that turned into blisters. I switched to mole skin and hunted the rest of the week w/o them popping. I think i need the padding the mole skin provides vs the thinner Leukotape. My feet are healed up with a fresh new callous on both heels. I'm going back out on the 28th for a 10 day hunt in WY and will use mole skin exclusively.

What is happening with your year old Leukotape? I have a roll that is at least 3 years old and seems to still be fine.
Yep. This year I used an old roll (5+ years old) that was about 1/4" thick of tape left on the roll so getting to the end of it, and it worked great.
