So the piece of public ground I hunt this year is loaded with acorns, this is really spreading the deer out a lot unfortunately. I don't have much on my trail cameras, the deer simply don't have to move a lot. Last year they were hitting up a lot of browse in the open fields at last light, this year those same fields have zero sign around them. I'm thinking when I head up for five days I'm gonna find me some oaks that still are dropping acorns and then find the nearest thicket and set up on a prevailing wind. Sound good? What kinda strategies do you guys use when hunting deer when there's a lot of mast on the ground?

I hunt funnels, saddles . To catch bucks cruising for doe's.
^ this. Also not all mast dropped is equal look for the ones that look like all the leaves have been rooted around in. I've heard some acorns are sweeter than others even in the same variety. I've found they really key into just a couple trees

Sounds like you know what you are doing... I would also rattle and grunt! But you can't beat getting between food and bedding.. Also find some scrapes or a nice rub line! I leave on the 5th can't wait!

Look for White Oak, the acorns are sweeter than Red Oak and the deer prefer them. A White Oaks leaves are rounded on the edges, unlike a Red Oak's leaves which come to a point.
