Let's Talk About Socks

I like the Hike/Trek in a crew height sock for early season through late. I have a size 13 foot and normally like size L socks so they don't slide around alot on me but with the Darn Tough's I have to get an XL because the front of the ankle was very tight and pinched a little with the L. Nothing against the socks just giving a little information on how they fit for me. This model also is available in a quarter height which is perfect to just be above my hiking boots in the warmer months. The crew height is about an inch above full size boots for me. If you have pac boots you will need the taller height. I haven't found a need for the heavier hunting version yet.

My other favorite sock is the Lorpen Merino Light Hiker almost identical thickness as the Darn Tough I mentioned above and my feet really like both socks. If you need a liner the Lorpen Merino Liner is the best I have found. Another sock I really like for warmth is the Wigwam comfort hiker just make sure its cold out because my feet sweat in these no matter how cold it is if I am moving.

I started using Lorpen merino wool socks last fall. I got some on sale on The Climb. I bought the snow boarding style, they go over the calf. I love them. I follow a few websites and buy socks whenever I see them on sale.

The Lorpen Merino Light Hiker socks are $10 normal price at Sportsmans Warehouse not much need to wait for a sale if you have one near you.

I've always used smartwool socks and decided to buy a pair of darn tough socks a couple of weeks ago. I wish I would have bought these socks a long time ago because they are so comfortable. I think maybe they have a finer thread count or its the blend. Whatever it is, they are awesome. Smartwool socks seem to always rub the top of my toes while hiking till they get tender.
