You bought that stock from their ready to ship tab finally, did ya? Nice setup.

Haha yep, Black Friday got me. It’s not as bad as the website looked but it still might get a paint job at some point

How do you like the grip angle on the blacktooth? Is it comparable to a factory tikka?

Love it -if I had a magic wand I might make it 1/4-3/8” shorter trigger reach for my wife but for my hands it’s great
It’s more vertical than factory but not as vertical as say the rokstok. It’s about the same shape as an alterra if you’ve ever handled one
It’s a nice balance for me as I prefer the more sporterized grip but still had a nice trigger reach and negative comb for recoil
I can throw up some pics of it with a factory, factory vertical grip, Rokstok and alterra when I get home

It’s actually really nice if you like a more sporter style grip. I found it to be kind of a nice mix between a standard and vertical tikka grip. I wish the trigger reach was slightly shorter but it’s not horrible. My only complaint with the blacktooth is the LOP is too short for me. If they made it in a 14-14.25” LOP it would be great.

Tikka T3x Hunter 30-06 rebarrelled to 7mm PRC
Barrel - 20" X-Caliber carbon fiber prefit
Bolt - PR Precision
Stock - Greyboe Phoenix 2
Scope - Leupold VX5HD 3-15x44

Serious question here.

Why would you go through this instead of buying all the parts and putting it together? Is it for the action/trigger only?

I am a newb when it comes to custom builds and want to understand the thought process.

I already owned and used the rifle and wanted to upgrade.

Tikka actions and triggers are not always available as parts, so a lot of folks buy a rifle at their local store and customize it.

All the custom parts I bought I did assemble myself.

Buy the rifle for $900 and sell the OEM stock and barrel for $100 each. Add in the $75 rebate they had recently and you have the bare action for $650 or so which competes with actions twice that cost.
