Any regret on PRC vs CM? How’s the shootability out of an 8lb 10oz rifle? I’m over 11lb all up (with a can and bipod) on a 7rm looking to shed weight and ft lbs of recoil, just undecided on a PRC or CM
Cascade,
It’s a pleasure to shoot at that weight. I am coming from a suppressed T3X 30-06 that weighed over a pound less. I will try and drop a few ounces in this rifle with a titanium suppressor in the future. I’m glad I didn’t choose the 7PRC that I was originally contemplating, but the 6.5CM wasn’t really on my radar. I wanted a little more velocity in case I choose, or am forced to shoot monos. I am getting some crazy fast velocities out of factory ELDX. If I were to do it all over again, I would have probably gone a few inches shorter in the barrel.

I will also build a .223 trainer in the future for cheap practice time.

To help your decision, I would play with an online recoil calculator to compare your rifle now with potential new rifles. It helped me to calculate the reduced recoil for each potential build as a percentage reduction from my old rifle.

Dang that Tikka/Peak 44 looks great! Anyone with the same combo use an aftermarket bottom metal? My Tikka in Rokstok with an OMR bottom metal took a little grinding to get a decent fit.
Also questions about this. What is the “metal shroud” upgrade?

The original T3's came with a plastic bolt shroud, back in the day. I replaced it with the aluminum version. If you have a newer T3x, it comes from the factory with an aluminum one.

I just received my Tikka 223 from Unknown Munitions. On the order form I requested cut to 18” and threaded 1/2x28 with an adapter to 5/8x24. This is how it showed up. Anyone see this before? It’s quite ugly in my opinion.

I would have assumed the adapter would have been machined to match the OD of your barrel.

Question is will you even notice once you screw the suppressor on?

I have a couple of these UM adapters and never really noticed. What design have you seen that looks better?

Usually a gunsmith will ad an adaptor such that it looks like it is part of the gun. No lines seamless.

Basically any other adapter that’s shoulder sits flush against the barrel, not leaving a gap with a sharp edge. Suppressor wouldn’t cover this.

I would recommend one of these:

Cheap, reliable and it looks like it is part of the supressor.

I can't understand what is going on in that picture. It almost looks like the adapter had male threads that were screwed in to a counter bored and female threaded barrel.

If it works, then it works and there's no reason to worry about it unless the aesthetics really bother you. It does look odd

Yeah i see what your saying that's it's not a custom fitted piece and not what you expected. Basically they just screwed the https://www.unknownmunitions.com/product/muzzle-thread-adapter/ on your barrel.

Yeah copy that. Alright I guess it’s not the end of the world. I could remove and put on a different adapter.

It’s just an adapter that was poorly thought out. As far as I know, this has rh 1/2” threads underneath and the adapter for some reason is tapered on the back side to where it’s smaller than the Superlite barrel and creates a poor fit & finish.
