Finally feel like I can contribute to this thread:
-Started as a 7mmrm superlite
-Swooped a SS 7rm ($100 tikka takeoffs go crazy) and had it cut down to 20” and threaded 1/2-28
-Mc Game Warden 2.0
-NX8 4-32 in NF rings w/ top ring level
-Q Trash Panda (I am filled with regret)
-Atlas CAL tall (love the usability hate the weight)

Shoots great with factory 162g ELDX. A bit of a bear to tote, hoping to put it on a diet but not sure where to cut weight without sacrificing shootabilty. Considering following the Rokslide trend and moving down to some flavor of 6.5
Open to any critique

Sweet rifle man, and if you're considering going down in recoil, maybe simply go the 7-08 route. Significatnly less recoil without having to trade out all you .284 components for .264. The 162 ELDX and ELDM are both excellent options out of the 7-08 as well as the 150 ELDX.

Not sure the weight/material on your stock, but you could possibly lose some weight with Rostock or similar carbon fiber model. You may also consider losing the bipod and practice shooting off pack instead. Just a couple ideas off the top of my head.

Good recommendations. Admittedly, I struggle with the aesthetics of the Rokstok. My GW weighs in at 31oz so it would be a savings of ~5oz. I’ve also considered the stockys VG. As for the bipod, I’ve actually only recently come around to bipods (2 seasons) and have very much appreciated the speed and ease of setting up. Particularly with the Atlas and its infinite options for leg lengths and angles. But that is a difficult 16.3 oz pill to swallow.
The 7-08 has been high on my list of considerations. What does it offer over the 6.5cm?

In your situation, if you're already reloading for the 7 mag, you would be able to utilize the same 162 grain bullets.

From a performance perspective, there is little difference between the Creed and the 7-08, both in terms of trajectory and recoil. The 7-08 does have the edge in its ability to shoot somewhat heavier bullets, but the Creed has slightly better BCs due to diameter vs. bullet weight, but I doubt you'd notice much difference at normal hunting ranges.

Again, if you're a reloader, the 7-08 benefits from a huge selection in bullet weights for virtually every purpose from varmints to medium and up to big game.

The Creed has a more efficient case design and suffers less from case growth due to the 30 degree shoulder.

Between these 2 cartridges, there really isn't a winner. They're both great, and the decision to go one way or the other depends on your personal situation and objectives.

To muddy the water even further, there is another 7mm that may interest you. The .284 has a 35 degree shoulder, can be loaded hotter than the 7-08, can shoot the 175 and 180 grain bullets (with proper throat), and still recoils less than the 7 mag. Factory ammo is scarce to unavailable, but dies and brass are readily available as it has been an F-class favorite for years.

Then there are the 6.5-284 and 25-284 wildcats that have their own niche for the reloader. Good luck with your decision!

I put this together from spare parts just now specifically to ruin Form’s night. You’re welcome for the nightmare fuel @Formidilosus ;)

1) nowhere good to put shooting thumb
2) extra failure points in folder
3) mere presence of bipod
4) ineffective suppressor
5) guaranteed to stick to human skin <32F

This abomination will continue to exist until I receive my Rokstok. Your move UM…

Shouldn’t you post this atrocity in the RokStock thread and add some tags?

I've put 60 rounds of 6.5cm through it now. Did not anticipate how incredibly painful that tiny stock butt pad would be. Felt exactly like 300 WSM in my Bravo.

I will continue torturing myself with it until my 12/27 Rokstok(s) arrive @Unknown Munitions . Hurt people hurt people ;)

Nice setup. Are you using med or low Tikka rings here?

Does anyone know if the low UM rings have enough clearance for scope caps on a 50mm objective scope with the factory lite contour barrel?

Pretty minimal upgrades.

.223
3-12 LRHS
MDT ACC Premier Stock Gen 2
Has a few more changes coming.

Bottom is a .308 T3
6x SWFA
Bravo stock

I was going to sell it and the wood stock I have for it, then I tried shooting it in the Bravo. Made it significantly nicer to shoot and now I may just keep it.
