Tikka action and 22” 7 PRC proof pre fit from JA Outdoors

Manners EH1TK stock I picked up here in the classifieds

Just saving for a scope now. Can’t wait to get this rifle out and start doing some load development.
I’m sorry if I’ve missed it elsewhere, but how did this rifle end up shooting? How did the Proof pre-fit work out? I’m putting together a 7 PRC on a Tikka action, have a Rokstock on order. Also have a Carbon 6 barrel on order but they are 5-6 months out. I got an email today with an ad for 20% Proof barrels. I’m thinking about cancelling my C6 order and going with the Proof since I can get it faster and save some coin. C6 is local to me though, so if there’s an issue I can get in the truck and go walk in the store, but I can’t do that with Proof. And C6 offers .5 MOA guarantee with quality ammo, but Proof doesn’t. Quite the conundrum. Open to opinions.

The Proof prefit shoots great. The only thing I wish I had gone with a 24” over the 22” but the 24” wasn’t available. I settled on 64.5gr H4831sc, 180 Hybrids, 210m primers and ADG brass that’s been super consistent. I’m only getting 2830fps and wish it was a little faster

A little update for my 6 creed. Had my proof research barrel cut to 18" and threaded 1/2x28. I put a 5/8x24 adapter on. Added a swfa 3-15. Still got the stockys carbon stock (patiently awaiting a rokstok in bare carbon fiber).

Still shoots good. Looking forward to getting my suppressor out of jail.

Have my T3X 300wsm I theorized about nearly complete, just waiting on a Rokstok…
- 22” Bartlein #3 w/ std 300 wsm chamber
- Credo 2.5-15x42 mil w/ NF lows and SRS 20moa rail
- Ultra 9
- 9lbs 6oz

Towards the breech end, the barrel is too thick for the std stock, but it fits w/o freefloat which works for a mockup. Looking forward to taking whitetail and black bear with it this year.

Just finished the exercise of putting all my hunting rifles on the same platform.
Tikka 243 SWFA 3-15X MOA
Tikka 6.5 PRC SWFA 3-15X MOA
Tikka 300 WM SWFA 3-15X MOA
Verticals grips and cheek risers on all of them. I may end up adding the Pic rail so I can ditch the heavy Harris and get that new gunwerks bipod, it’s looks slick but $$. Otherwise I think they’re done.
Have a super varmint 223 I haven’t tweaked yet and not sure if I ever will. It’s such a dream to shoot as is with that bull barrel.
Could use another vertical grip though if anyone wants to sell one.
A big thanks to everyone who has contributed to the pieces and knowledge. Especially @k.cerniglia

Those look great! What cheek riser is that?

It’s the Victor, I’m fan. Only complaint is on the 300 it can leave a lump from being welded down on it with the recoil as it’s hard plastic. I may eventually put some rubber over it.

Tikka T3x 308 Winchester
Barrel cut to 20”
Stock shortened to 13.5” LOP
limbsaver pad
DNZ 1” low mount
Burris FFII 3-9x40
OMR bottom metal and bolt shroud
Painted stock by me

Nothing at all special, just a good southern whitetail rifle for the pine thickets, swamps, and hardwood hollows. It just works!

Recently finished my 6BR build.
Tikka action, trued up the threads, lugs and cut off the chamfer for a larger barrel shoulder contact. Bolt has the firing pin bushed, nose fully supported with a firing pin diameter of 1.55mm, hole diameter 1.60mm. Had some primer cratering before bushing the bolt, but now it works perfect.

Bartlein 5R, 6mm, 8" Heavy palma barrel at 27"
6mm BR Norma, with a 0.060 freebore, Manson reamer
MDT ACC Elite chassis, bedded, custom made internal weight inside forend.
MDT 6br mags
Custom made overbore bipod attachment using Atlas legs. Prototype at this point, the final product will be anodized etc. Works brilliantly.
Element Optics Theos 6-36x56, on a Spuhr Tikka direct mount.
Muzzle brake is my own doing aswell.

The rifle shoots everything you feed for it very well, and absolutely hammers with 90gr Berger BT, 105 hybrid and 105 VLD hunting.
6BR seems to be stupid easy to load for, and extremely nice to shoot.
I must admit that it was hard to believe at first how good this thing shoots, but after some 250-300 rounds of consistant accuracy I'm starting to get used to this. I haven't shot anything over 0.5moa at a 100 so far, even though I've done some load dev. with bullets from 68gr flatbase to 105 vlds. That to me is pretty unbelievable.

Its great when stuff you've made yourself works better than expected.

Almost finished with my 6.5cm. Just waiting for a Rokstok. Had it for almost 2 years and have been slowly adding and upgrading. I added pictures of the major milestones. I am finally happy with where it’s at. Built off a T3x Lite.

Great thread. I see a lot of beautiful Tikka rifle builds in this thread and I'm happy to add mine to the collection. My Tikka T3 stats are below.

Left hand Tikka T3 Action.
McGowen 24" stainless barrel chambered in .325 wsm.
Installed Remington 700 style recoil lug instead of using the standard Tikka lug system. (See 4th pic below).
Lumley Arms bottom metal, bolt shroud and bolt stop.
MTNGear.us titanium fluted bolt handle with custom fluted bolt body.
Oregunsmithing carbon fiber/Kevlar light weight stock.
Talley detachable rings and mounts with a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 scope.
Rifle will pretty much shoot 1/2 MOA all day if I do my part. Load development is still in the works. (See 5th pic)
Who did your bolt fluting?

This thread is dangerous.

This gun is now in an allterra stock purchased used from this forum. Little bit of cleanup work on the bedding, sand and repaint barrel channel, high desert bottom metal, and I like it a lot. This was mostly because I just don’t care for plastic, the only real functional difference is that the Allterra handles recoil noticeably better than the OEM stock. It “feels” more substantial, this was 98% an aesthetic decision.. So far tried a couple mcmillan and a stockys VG on it and didnt like any of those as much. Still puts 10 into about just <1.5” with both barrels.
Oem t3x Lite 6.5 cm and .270win factory barrels for a switch-barrel rig
S&B 3-12 Klassik
Oem CTR pic rail/seekins rings
Allterra carbon stock w mini arca & spartan mount
Spartan pro hunt tac bipod
8lb 8oz including bipod and empty mag.

CBC shot location, and 1st-round impact at 430 yards.

Whats that weigh without the can? Thats the rig a friend was contemplating but wasnt sure where it would land weight-wise.
In the high 8lbs, with everything except suppressor. I could go lighter on the scope, but I like the magnification for using as a spotter. The suppressor definitely needs upgraded.
