I just bought a B&C stock and sent the bolt to LRI.
My question is do you guys normally bed it when replacing the stock?
Have the same stock on the way for my Tikka. Any idea what the weight difference is versus the factory bottom metal?I love the bottom metal it fit perfect into the McMillan. Didn’t need any shims at all.
Love the simplicity of the design and fitment was dead on. Nice piece for sure!
No I didn’t weigh either bottom metals on their own sorry. I also sold the factory stock and bottom metal so I wouldn’t be able to check it out.Have the same stock on the way for my Tikka. Any idea what the weight difference is versus the factory bottom metal?
Any idea what this setup weighs?Had my eye on a $12K Gunwerks Clymer, but it was about $12K out of my budget. Went the Tikka route instead. Looking at hunting everything with this one, from hogs to elk.
Donor 300WM T3X Lite (found in Sheridan WY for $500 unfired...)
AG Alpine Hunter stock, raw carbon/orange camo
Proof pre-fit 6.5PRC22" 24" T3X barrel
TBAC brake, 30CB7suppressor
Anarchy bolt knob/handle
Mountain tactical 20MOA extended rail
Leupold MK5 3.6-18 H59 w/Leupold low/med rings
Pushing .3 or less so far with factory Hornady ammo. Feed smooth and fast like every Tikka I have. This one turned out exactly like I planned and I have no complaints.

My newest Tikka toy, 300wsm throated for 215s, 23.5" summit barrel from HCA w/ mbm lil beast, Mesa altitude stock. Will install a trigger spring, Hawkins hybrid rings, vortex 3-15x44 razor hd lht. Should be right around 8# with optics.
Yes it's 6.5# these stocks are not light by any means at 29oz, I'd like to fine a better option. Perhaps the wildcat composites long range, believe it's 21oz.That is a great looking rifle! So, you are sub-7# as it sits right now?
Due to the short magazine constraints, I'd suggest a 7saum over the 280ai. Case capacites are similar but the saum on a 3.3" mag will lose zero capacity when throated properly. I believe peterson is coming along with 280ai soon, but adg and gunworks both have high quality brass available in 7saum.This rifle has killed a lot of ID deer as well as a few other states. 20" 30-06 finished in battleship grey with b&c stock. and TBAC Ultra 7. It's about to get reborn in as a .280ai with a carbon six barrel, mesa stock, and new glass. View attachment 174289.

The Tikka long action magazine is 3.38" long. So unless you're planning on going with an aftermarlet dbm w/ aics mags, that'll be all you can run. A 180 Berger will be stuffed way down in the case. I'd spend the money to get your bolt face opened($120) and run the saum case on your current setup. An aftermarket magazine from hells canyon armory is specifically designed to run saum/wsm cases loaded long. It'd be the far better mousetrap, will require a little more money, but you'd be taking full advantage of the Tikka action and 7mm case.I like the 7 saum quite a bit and would go that route if I was building on a short action. My plan thought is to use the existing action with a 30-06 bolt it seemed to make more sense to go to a 280ai. From my understanding the magazine length should be fine with 180gr 280ai?
I am looking at getting a WSM. What made you pick it over some of the other mags out there? What load are you running in that 300 wsm?
How's it shoot? I dropped my Tikka off Saturday, its turning into a long throated 7SAUM. (Same scope as you have and going with an AG Alpine Hunter in the red)Tikka T3X Varmint- 6.5 Creedmoor

It’s one of the titanium/carbon fiber handles but I didn’t like the carbon knob so I made a new one out of aluminumWho makes the bolt handle?
