I seem to see a lot of .300wsm compared .300wm in tikkas. Can some one explain to me why that is? Or am I just crazy?

Have had my t3x super lite in 300win mag for a couple years now. Ended up buying a Mesa precision altitude stock a couple weeks ago and had to buy a few other things while I was it! Mountain tactical trigger spring and bolt shroud, Hawkins precision hybrid rings, bolt handle and knob from anarchy outdoors, pic rail and rugged ridge bipod from red hawk rifles. KDF brake and bolt fluting was done already.
Happy with everything but debating on cerakoting the stainless, we’ll see

Looks great! Any idea of the total weight? Thinking about getting a 7mag SL and doing something similar to this.

I like that shroud, I wanted to get one with a sheep on it.

I don’t know if a new stock or chassis counts as semi custom, but here’s my latest. A T1X 22lr, KRG Bravo, Sportsmatch rings and a SWFA 3-9.

Here’s my formerly relatively lighter weight T3x in off season form. Came across the KRG XRay chassis for $225 on Black Friday and figured why not. I’ll probably end up getting a CTR for this chassis and put the ATACR on it as well and make it a range gun. Then drop this 18” T3x Lite in a KRG Bravo with either a LRHS or 3-9 SWFA to lighten it up a bit.

Weight as picture is 10 lbs 1.5 ounces unloaded and no suppressor so it’s a bit of a tank. Haven’t got to shoot since I got the chassis but it was already such an easy shooting rifle without it I am excited to see how it performs.

Finally assembled.

Tikka T3 Action - donor action came cerekoted in gunmetal.
Proof Sendero Prefit. 6.5 PRC @ 24"
Yo Dave Trigger Spring - Trigger at ~1.9 lbs
Hells Canyon Magazine
Mountain Tactical Long Action Bolt Stop
Bolt fluted by LRI
Mesa Precision Stock
Griffin Armament Taper Mount Paladin 2Muzzle Brake
Zeiss V4 4-16 on Tally Mediums (will probably switch to low)

Caught a weather window to go put some factory ammo down the tube. Both the 147 gr and 143 gr Hornady ammo shoot under .5 moa. Can't wait for some warmer weather to see what this rifle can do. I am really surprised how easy it is to put a rifle like this together. I am not a gunsmith by any means, but the only help I had was removing the barrel and screwing on a new one and they checked headspace.

Great thread to window shop.

Do Tikka magazines need any modification to shoot the same parent case?

For example, will 280 and 35 Whelen feed from 270/30-06 magazines?

I’ve always bought factory guns so I’ve never rechambered or rebarreled a gun and honestly don’t know a ton about it. So my question for the more experienced is if I buy a tikka 6.5 creed will I have any issues if down the road I want to rechamber to a 6.5 prc or 270 or any other caliber. I know all tikkas are long actions so that’s why I’m curious. Could I build a custom out of it someday?

Yes you certainly can. The only limiting factor will be the bolt face size. Can't run a magnum, unless you get it opened up or get a new bolt.
