here's the two tahr i've taken. the first was in 2014 the second in 2015. both were DIY backpack hunts into public land in westland new zealand. took me 50 days spanning 5 years of backpack hunting to take these bull's and a chamois.
Let's try this again.
This was my first trad kill. Longbow 50# Douglas fir arrows.
2014. 200 # Canadian black bear.
Last year I shot a big old doe with my longbow. I did not get a pic of that. I was solo.
Hopefully this year I get a moose in Sept and another whitetail. Hopefully a buck this time!

This is my first Trad Kill with my Toelke lynx 51# bow. Shot it on opening day 2016 spot and stalk in Elkton Oregon. This is my 3rd season and pumped to finally get it done.
Enjoy.
Nice job Laughingmallard! I hope to be adding a traditional Oregon kill here soon. A deer like that with traditional equipment here in oregon is an accomplishment for sure. Heres to many more to come!
Great stuff guys! I'm not confident enough to take my recurve on my elk hunt next week but as soon as I return I'll hang up the training wheels and chase whitetail with the trad gear again. Can't wait!
Jason thanks for the nice words. I have been hitting it hard for the last 2 seasons with lots of practice, but those blacktails are tough to close in on. Finally got it done and was thrilled with the results. I shoot 50 arrows everyday and it really paid off.
Good luck and pick a spot.
