Here’s mine, off the grid, in Upper Michigan.
Just a thought for you: I got tired of waiting until I could afford to build the cabin so I took a different approach. Year 1, I cut down the trees for logs (got interrupted by a job change and had to move out of the area for a year). Year 2, came home every other weekend to peel the bark (peeling bark off dry logs sucks). Year 3, built the floor deck and put up the walls then ran out of expendable cash. Year 4, built the gable ends and roof then ran out of expendable cash. Year 5, chinked in the log gaps, bought the wood stove, and moved in for the hunt.
This was a drawn out process, but if I had waited until “I could afford it.” It likely would have been another 10 years before the project was completed. As it is, I’ve now had it for 30 years.
