......your tag you applied for. What now, what's your back up plan?

Will you try to hunt in another state with an "OTC" tag?

Will you spend more time hunting something else you did draw?

Will you just say "oh well maybe next year"?

What's your back up plan now that you didn't draw "your tag". Deer elk....what have you.

Well I didn't draw UT, NM, WY, CO, NV, or AZ.

1) OTC- Yes absolutely
2) More time hunting something else - No, same amount.
3) Never will I say "Oh Well"

yes OTC it is. I'll have fun doing it, and I have more points for next year!

Les is right on. I'm hunting every year for as much as I can. The only variables for me are:

1. If I draw a premium tag (i.e. Goat, Sheep, Moose - drew goat this year) then I'm adding additional time that I don't have but will find a way to get to my hunting schedule.

2. What unit I'm hunting in (draw or OTC)

This year will put in at least 10 days for Elk (probably closer to 14 or 17 - archery allows for lots of weekends and a week) and hopefully no more than a week for goat. :) Also a long weekend in WY for pronghorn.

So many great options out there, just get out and have some fun. I went out on the worst pronghorn tag I could imagine in CO - figured at least I'd be driving my truck around with some quality "me" time and took a very nice doe opening morning. I enjoyed every bite of that one.

I didn't draw anything this year. But still going to hunt sheep, black bear, brown/grizzly bear, mountain goat, moose, caribou, and sitka blacktail deer anyways OTC. Sure I'd like to draw but I can hunt all those animals every year with a free OTC harvest tag. I plan all winter on my hunting season thinking I won't draw, then if I do I adjust my busy hunting schedule accordingly.

I did draw some great tags this year but in the years I do not I will hunt on 4-5 OTC tags. I also will help out on hunts in units that I want to hunt in the future. I look at it as an investment in the unit before I draw the tag.

I Would never say "oh well maybe next year" because you never know if there will be a next year!
