As far as I know Caltopo is a business like any other, but its worth noting it was created by and for SAR teams and is heavily used by SAR teams across the country.... so IMO there is a different business motivation there than just for profit. What I like best about it is I go hunt and record tracks, waypoints etc. and when I get home its just there on the desktop browser login to review. The reverse is the same for escouting, if I hand draw a route on the computer I just head out to the woods and its there on my phone app.

If you want property owners you have to buy their Pro subscription for $50 a year. I don't need that so the $20 plan is awesome for me and the free mapsets are incredibly detailed topography even for the free plan.
