Decided to try this and didn't like it. Completely locked in and still wouldn't hold my rifle. I got it due to simplicity and the reviews I've read and videos I seen. I wouldn't recommend.

Decided to order the MA-40X from Loefoto. Im hoping this one works out.

I'm trying to stay around 250ish for a ball head. If there are any suggestions in that range. Please don't say RRS or anything crazy like that. Not in my budget.

Thanks

The ma30 will not disappoint you. It is a shameless copy of the RRS anvil, which means it's great

MH 35A The precision-machined 1.4"-diameter ball makes movement silky smooth, while providing a robust load capacity of 39.7 pounds
MA-40X - Max load: 20kg / 44.09 lbs === 0.89lbs weight
MH50 -
Weight: Max load: 25kg / 55.12 lbs 756g / 1.67 lbs
Yeah, you step up in weight, but look at the load, 55.12. You also need to make sure the tripod can handle the recoil as well.

I'm pretty sure the tripod can handle it. It's a 40lb capacity as well. Pretty beefy. Weighs about 3.5lbs. It should be fine though.

Interesting. I've used the LH ball heads as glassing/shooting ball heads and they've held up to both tasks. I have an LH-36 and LH-40 and both will support my rifle.

I'd say the same, I've used an LH-30 and been pretty happy with the performance, weight kind of sucked, but I'm a bit of a UL wheenie.
