I was looking at that… it seemed like I should be able to find lighter. ~2lbs tripod to get my bins to 44 inches. Correct me if I’m wrong here.

I have a ranger LS284, build quality is quite good. It’s significantly more stable than my previous “ultralight” tripod. It’s on mega sale as well. The panning base on the head is really nice. I’m sure the smaller/lighter version would be nice as well - I wanted one I could kneel and shoot off of.

I have the Lc-324c, came with thier 40mm ball head. But I run an anvil-30 on it. Your 284 sounds like it’s somewhere in the middle. Ive had that for about 4 years but wanted to get something lighter. I ordered the 224, so we’ll see how it is when it gets here but there are a few guys that use them on here. and the leofoto I have is solid. No RRS, but good middle of the road company

I have never really used a spotting scope and looking to get something reasonably priced that works well at the range and also to pack in out west if desired. Basically a good all around tripod. If I was to get one tripod that works reasonably well for all scenarios, should I get the LS-284C or the LS-224C for its more compact and lightweight size?

Difference is leg diameter (22 vs 28mm) and the weight it is rated to support. If you want to shoot off it, 28mm is your starting point, and 32mm is even better, with possibility of standing behind it. I’d personally take the 284 just to get the extra stability but if you did nothing but glass with it the 22 would likely be totally fine.

If I bought one right now, they also have the 284 and 324 sizes of the Mr Q model on sale, which would be my choice…..they have a removable center column (the rangers you have to screw the column on the apex if you want to use one, I typically just leave mine). These models are super nice, hard to pass on the ranger being under $200 though with those ball heads.

Well, I placed this order on Amazon and it never happened. They said it must be lost and to place another order, but of course they are no longer on sale! Did anybody else order during the sale and actually get theirs? Guess I am back in the market for a tripod setup.

Got mine but it was the 224, not the 284
