Any thoughts on these two scopes? I realize the Visus has been discontinued, but I've found a deal on one that is very similar to the price of the Leupold. I have to admit, however, that one of the considerations is the look of the Leica, which is glossy. i think my preference would be matte.

I have 3 of the VX6 but in the 44. I have the fire dot reticle and after getting used to it on my first scope I love it. Really helps center the eye and with the adjustable brightness, works in all light conditions. I don’t have any experience with the Leica. I have a VX5 in the 50 and other than the 5 not having windage dial, it’s really close to the VX6. Low light is one of the best IMO

I've got a pair of Leica's ER series scopes (it's my understanding that the Visus is an ER with different cosmetics) and absolutely love them. I own the 3.5-14x42 and 2.5-10x42, both with the IBS reticle. This scope and reticle combo is by far my favorite for hunting. If you like the idea of the Leica but prefer a matte finish, this one might be an option for you if it's in the same price range. (I've kept an eye on this one thinking I might need a 50 mm objective sometime, but have never run into a situation where the 42 mm objectives of my existing 2 scopes have been a limiting factor, so it's still out there for sale.) In my opinion the Leica has a little better glass than the Leupold VX6, the hydrophobic coating of the Leica is a great feature, and the exposed, locking turret on this one greatly increases its versatility.
