Is there a setting on these binoculars for the range to just read the range with elevation compensation? Basically, a shoot to distance? They get complicated real fast in my opinion. I just wanted a binocular that would range 0-500 quickly to eliminate a device to carry around with me.

Is it? I was out using the 3200.coms yesterday and I was getting one reading - which I think was true distance in yds (you have to choose US to get yds in the options or it defaults to EU aka meters). Since this is all I need for a bds turret I am using right now, I would be fine with the adjusted horizontal distance (ehr) but I'm not sure the binos were doing it: we had pigs 450 yds up a ridge and missed I think because we weren't getting an adjusted range. Pisses me off a bit as that was our last chance for the day and Leica support is utterly useless.

OK, I played around with my Leica and figured it out. What Doug said is correct, the EHR appears to be the default mode. However the binos only use it *if* you select a ballistics profile (which of course you don't need and EHR doesn't use....). So go into the menu, select EHR to be safe, then select a ballistics profile (any of the built in ones). If you do that, the EHR range will display after the true range whenever you use the rangefinder function. You can set your turret based on the EHR and should be on target.

I'll be in the mountains next month shooting at some weird angles - I'll update the thread if I find that there's anything problematic with this approach.

Edit: I misunderstood how to think about this in my comment: you do need a ballistic profile for this to make sense so the way they work is fine. I wish the documentation was better, but I have used it successfully in steep terrain in Wyoming and Alaska last year. I really wish the EHR accounted for temp/elevation changes as well (Revic does, not sure if they have a patent), but overall its been good.

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing and sorry for your pain. While the glass has been a serious upgrade for me, getting the ballistics side to function easily was not straight forward.

Thank you for the info. I agree. Leicas info doesn’t get communicated very clearly. I have been getting ranges back that differ from my handheld RF.. I wonder if an update will recalibrate or if that’s a Leica thing
