I’m thinking too far ahead here, but my son is 3 and seems to favor his left side when shooting his rubber band gun. Luckily, my grandpa is left handed and has a handful of lefty guns he can shoot when the time comes, if he is still favoring his left side. He has an old savage 22-250 and a Remington 700 .243. I am coming up short in my research for a left handed compact stock for a 700. Is anyone aware of a good option here (for both 700 and the 110)? Or is cutting down a wood take off the only option? Also interested in potentially buying a stock if someone has something that will work.

You may consider calling Boyd’s as I believe they have a youth option, multiple recoil pad choices and/or will do custom LOP. Yes, it will be heavy compared to synthetic or carbon, but, from experience, you’ll be the one carrying the rifle 90+% of the time until he’s older. Plus, the weight will absorb some recoil.

Many people don’t agree with me on what makes a good youth stock, but a small diameter pistol grip, even if it’s pretty straight, is easy to hold and they can get their hand situated close enough to get the finger on the trigger. I see many dads trying to force their kids to reach really far for the trigger, which is doing more harm to their trigger control than the grip is helping. It’s also important for the grip to be large enough for an adult to use since kids grow quick and I’ll probably shoot the rifle as much as the kid until then.

A Christensen Mesa stock cut down is what I’m using for a youth stock on my Remington. It actually reminds me of the savage kids rifle in how the pistol grip is long enough for any size hand, but skinny and easy for small hands to grab. The forend is also rather thin side to side, and the overall weight is pretty light. A classic stock like this without a cheek piece also looks good when cut down. If you’re patient these stocks come up for $125 once in a while.

Seems like a lot of left handed wood stocks also come up regularly on eBay. Before I looked carefully at the Mesa stock, a classic style wood stock seemed to make the most sense.

The Savage Axis 2(idk about the Axis II) is available in LH Compact, if you get one I would also go ahead and get a full size stock someone is taking off for when the kid is big enough.

My bad, I jumped ahead of myself and missed that you were specifically looking for older 110 and 700. Something to keep in mind though.

I appreciate the input! Sounds like I have a wood stock on the way from another member, but am still curious if there are other options out there.
