I'm looking for a pair of gloves for stalking with a leather palm so I don't get my hands full of thorns. Also thinking about getting a pair of knee pads as well because last year I had thorns in my knees for weeks. Anyone have any suggestions?

Might look at mechanix mpac. Not sure if that exactly what you looking for but they leather palmed and cheaper than name brand hunting gloves.

Those mechanix might do the trick. Good price too doesn't need to be name brand just something to stop thorns and cacti and not cause me to overhead

My buddy uses the Mechanix ones and he's happy with them. Never used them for hunting, but they are nice for working on cars/trucks. You can find them in Multicam if you "need" camo.

Good luck!

I love my Sitka Talus. They fit much better than plain leather gloves, are light and still give a bit of dexterity. Never had them wet so can't comment on that aspect.

I wear the mechanix leather gloves for hunting and they are great, especially for 20-25 bucks

I used to wear the mechanix gloves but recently switched to Ironclad Exo gloves.

Pros vs. mechanix:
Velcro closure on back of hand (I always used to catch the mechanix inside Velcro closure on myself and other things)
Neoprene knuckle guard (additional protection without the annoyance of the M-pact Ironclad also has a similar model but it's not for me either)
Terry cloth sweat wipe (Initially thought this was gimmicky but ended up using it all the time as a nose wipe)

Cons vs. mechanix:
No camo options (they are available in earth colors)
Ring finger is shorter (This actually fits me better but if my options are too short or too long I'll take too long every time)
Palm material seems slightly thinner than Mechanix (I haven't had an issue but, I usually lose gloves before I wear them out.)

Ironclad EXOT-PODG-05-XL Tactical Operator Pro Glove, OD Green, X-Large - - Amazon.com

I really like these gloves. I might have to do a bigger review of them to help spread the word.

I just ordered a pair of the First Lite Shale Hybrids. Palms and fingers are leather.

I got a great pronghorn buck a few years ago. I saw the buck 800 yards away and crawled my way to 300 to seal the deal. I wasn't expecting to find an antelope in that spot and was unprepared... let's just say I could barely shoot due to all the cactus spines in my hand.

Leather palm gloves are the way to go for upland hunting or rough country. I think the Shale's will fit that bill

Thanks for all the help guys. I like those first light shale but they are a little pricey to me for gloves. I think I'm going to take a hard look at both the mechanix and the ironclad.
