Hey guys/gals

Just wanting to know what your preference is on lead bullets for elk. I got it done with the off the shelf powerbelts but I was not happy with their accuracy out of my cvs accura mr-x. It absolutely loves the federal bor locks but they aren’t Idaho legal.

For my idaho legal rifles, 495gr no excuses over a wad at 1250-1300ish fps (75-85 grs 777 3f) shoot very well. My knight goes sub moa, the others sub 2moa.

My group uses 460 grain NE bullets, and charges vary from 80-90 grains (volume) of 777 3F out of three Knight rifles. Two UL and my Disc extreme. We haven’t shot elk, but have killed five bucks with this combination

This years buck was around 20 yards quartering away and the recovered bullet weighed 396 grains. It traveled from behind the last rib, up through body and was lodged under the hide on the point of the off shoulder.

Knight ultralite 90 grns by volume pyrodex 420 no excuses.
You really need to mount a scope to do load work up, that's what I did.
It shoots except able to me. The fiber is so big at 100 plus it seems to me very hard to repeat the sight picture.
I bought the biggest target I could find with an orange dot and tried to surround the fiber evenly.

I think I ended up around 1.5" with the scope and 2.5" with the open sights.

I was 100 percent on a steel plate to 150
I sight in 5" high at 100 for a 150 zero.

Folded this cow like a taco at 149

We have killed spikes last 2 years in a row with 460 grain bullshop conicals. Busted the shoulder this year went 30 yards.

Are you in a lead only state? Some sabots are very accurate. The bull shop bullets are well regarded bullets as well.

One thing I have found is most accuracy issues come from overdriving the bullet as opposed to under.

It’s a solid and will work in Idaho. I didn’t recover my bullet this year and dad spike last year was a pass through. They are 460 grain solid soft lead and shoot very accurate with wool wad and black powder. I’m in Oregon with similar Muzzleloader regs.

460 grain no excuses .503 diameter, wool wad and 80 grain by volume 777 2F. Shoots just over MOA out to 200yds. This is in a 1:24 twist pedersoli.

Also I’ve found similar. I’ve got my best accuracy from the bot locks between 90-110 grains. Anything more and it starts having flyers

I noticed that a lot of you are running the 777. I’ve been using the pyrodex hodgon select. Any advantage to the 777?

777 is avaliable. If swiss was avaliable, I'd use it first. 777 works well enough and avaliable enough to have a few pounds sitting around.
