So around new years I started my work with Lathrop and Sons. I received their custom sizing package in the mail, took pictures of my feet, did the carbon panels for them, and mailed it all in. Working with Stephen, we decided on the Zamberlan Vioz Plus GTX in wide, since I have very wide feet. My feet have always been a nightmare on regular flat land hunts, and with sheep and goat hunting in my near future, I needed to go with a custom package to get the boots right.

They are arriving via UPS on monday and I will be home the following Tuesday to try them out. I am going to get out and do some heavy hiking in them over the next 10 weeks and will be coming back here with reviews. Lathrop and Sons seems very busy, so if other people with challenging feet want packages, I suggest getting on it now for hunting season this year.

I'm hoping for excellent results.

I got my boot package in the mail from them yesterday. Can't wait to get custom fit boots to break in for this upcoming season. Hopefully it doesn't take 10+ weeks.

What was the process like getting everything set up? Did you just take pics of your feet and the 3d prints or was there more to it?

They sent me a box with 6 imprint things, 3 per foot. I took the imprints and 4 photos per foot. I mailed the imprints and emailed the pics, then they called me up for a phone consultation. After that, they went to work on my boots.

Keep us posted about your thoughts on how the boots fit and how things are going.

Will do! I'm a shift worker in the oilfield, so I will have them waiting at home a week before I get to even try them on, but during my week off I will get some mountain hiking in and also wear them for a 2 day tactical carbine class. I should have some initial reports in a couple weeks.

Tagged. Want to see how these turn out for you. I have difficult feet as well but can't convince myself to spend the $

So I finally got to try my new boots on last week when I got home from work.

Initial impressions:
They fit like a glove. No pressure points. Except for the weight of the boots, I couldn't tell I was wearing them.

I got out and did a 4.5 mile hike with a 65 pound pack on and found them to be incredibly comfortable. More so than any other boots I've worn while hiking with no load. I wore them for 4 days straight, all day long. One day I spent 10 hours on concrete floors brewing beer and working on my ATV and besides my feet being tired from standing on concrete at the end of the day, I had no discomfort.

During 2 of the days I wore the boots, I was at a tactical AR-15 shooting class in gravel and mud. Again, the boots performed flawlessly while running and standing all day for both days.

I will be at work for the next three weeks, but when I get home, I will be doing some steep incline and decline hiking with a loaded pack to continue my fitness training and boot testing. I'm really loving what I have experienced so far.

Also, I did get a sock package from them with the Darn Tough socks and bridgedale liners. They are expensive socks, but I will be converting all of my socks (35 pairs including workout socks, socks I leave at work, and socks at home) to Darn Tough and I will be getting more of the bridgedale liners.

I hope this helps some of you. I will report back more as I get more time in the boots.

Cheer!

I did the L&S fitting process last fall and think it was well worth the money. Steven was able to look at my "maps" and determine that I had one foot that was a half size different then the other. He also picked up on the fact I have a weird way of walking/standing because one leg is slightly shorter. From the phone conversation we narrowed in on a boot and he explained how the insoles would work.
