shot this pig in january at the lake sonoma archery pig hunt(public land). he was an old diaster of a pig very thing and scared up from head to toe. upon skinning I realized he had about 18" of arrow with expandable broadhead stuck under the front shoulder and stopping agains his lower jaw. He was an old warrior. while butchering him further I noticed both front leg bones were very large so I boiled one up along with the skull and here is what I found. Notice the dent and healed fracture above the eye in the skull and I have no idea what was going on with the legs. For some tech I threw in a pic of him quartered up and packed in an icon 1850

Nice Pig - incredible what they can survive. Pretty nasty leg - did you eat it??

Cheers,

Very cool! I went on that hunt a few years ago and had a ball! Beautiful area. Very tough to take a pig on public land, very impressive.

Awesome. Seem plenty there but they are always running past me.

Congrats. A lake pig is truly my white whale

Ya it's probably the hardest hunting I've done, some how I've been able to get arrows in three there in two years along with missing another

I tell folks back east about how difficult public land pigs are and their response is always " I thought those were a huge problem, guys in TX shoot a dozen in a night."

I hunted CA public land for 6 years before I put one down. You are a stud to have arrowed 3 in 2 years. Success at Sonoma is what? 1% maybe?
