Late season glassing mittens

Looking for budget mittens for glassing in the late season. Weight isn’t an issue seems I’ll make it back to the truck every night at some point.

I use some like this for coyote hunting. Coldest it got was -33 last year and with thin liners my hands were fine.

For day/truck hunting I’m sure they would work fine.

might not be budget, but a good pair of Gore-Tex mitt outers (can use as rain mitts too) combined with Apex insulated mitts (Enlightened Equipment- 3 choices of amount of insulation) and a light liner glove is what I've settled on after many (many) years afield in all conditions. Gives you multiple combinations from just the liner gloves to wearing all three in the coldest weather.

I just ordered a set because I ordered another cap as well. Mine is pretty worn out. Can’t wait to try the mittens.

Nobody mentioned Kinco's? Hands down the warmest mitts I've ever warn. They come with a pack of sno-seal too. Won't find any other brands on the lefties up stading in the bitter cold all day running chairlifts at the resorts.

I was looking at some down mittens either from Outdoor Research or First Lite but am a little concerned about the durability.

I have the OR down mittens... they are warm and easy to slip on but definitely not durable. I am nervous to even put my hand on the ground when wearing them.

If weight isn’t an issue I’d get some snowmobile mitts. Totally weatherproof and if they can keep your hands warm at 60mph when it’s 0* out I’m sure they can while you’re just sitting around. I had mine in the truck with me this season but never pulled them out.

I know you said budget. I also know that I have suffered with cold hands and budget gloves. If I could make a suggestion. Save up and buy a pair of First Lite brooks down mitts, talus full or half finger wool gloves with a hot hands. Thank me later.

The First Lite mitts are very nice. Very warm. When it comes to being cold.. I’d pay good money to be warm…

These are pretty hard to beat for the price. I got some a few weeks ago for 20 bucks. They seem to get listed in waves. I have a pair of the alti mitts and these are almost identical. The leather in the palms is a single layer vs doubled up in a few sections on the alti mitts. I use the altis snowmachining in the winter -20 with a pretty good windchill on top of that. hands stay nice and toasty.
